@garrett_wolf3 Sowed into this mess 2 days after this. Ended up getting 20 ton an acre silage
English

@garrett_wolf3 @overbystockfarm Ya you'll be fine. I've seeded into a lot more of a mess. Was a bit uneven emerging but for silage that's hardly a concern.
English

@overbystockfarm @NYKCattle I mean, I didn’t post the very worst spot haha. Worst spot is kind in the middle of the far end of the field away from the road though so all good there
English

@gonads16 I'm always in awe of the custom guys' equipment but in no way shape or form do I want to be the guy maintaining it and paying for it.

@rhofford All the “waste” feed from a bale graze spot I had blew away yesterday I’m not sure what the regen theory is on that

Here's a brutal story for a Farmer in Kamsack, SK:
>Be Nykolaishen Farms just trying to farm in Saskatchewan
>2021: Fertilizer prices are actually reasonable
>Drop $4.59 million on 5,456 tonnes of custom blend going into some of the best crop years in a decade
>Cheques clear, keep the wins coming!
>incomingbigyields.jpg
>2024: Supplier goes full bankruptcy, never delivers a single bag
>Drive around and find my shit still sitting at three different sites “That’s mine!”
>Receiver: “Lmao prove it, test it yourself, file the paperwork, good luck”
>Bags and Bins of untouchable high quality crop sperm ready to fertilize
>Meanwhile I can offset some losses by renting land to Monette
>"Eat a Dick" is the last text from Monette as they refuse to pay $1.2 million in rent
>Monette files for Bankruptcy Protection
>farmingisgay.png
>Farming in the hole ~$6 million to kickoff the year

@mbacowboy @garrett_wolf3 For sure and I'm not arguing that fact. Mostly playing devils advocate to the "get off your ass" crowd. I'm sure you aren't sipping Margheritas while watching calves die 😂.
English

@NYKCattle @garrett_wolf3 Size and space constraints are among the factors to consider. The goal is efficiency.
In some herds, ensuring live calves, and culling after weaning is a logical choice.
For me, preventable death loss outweighs health/labor costs of calving in smaller pastures. Do what works.
English

They may or may not be good, but they aren't something I want to keep. Long-term benefits outweigh the short-term cost.
Morgan@mopaksus
@mydogisfart @mbacowboy If they need owner assistance they aren’t good cows
English

@garrett_wolf3 @mbacowboy The argument could be made that it's worth helping to get her to raise this calf and then ship her vs a dead one. But I'm all for culling every cow/calf that requires assistance.
English

@mbacowboy Always crazy to me that culling a cow that can’t do her 1 job is controversial haha.

@knd8700 @GenexCanadaBeef Didn't get any heifers the first year. Have a couple yearlings we bred this year. Similar to the bulls, lots of growth but maybe a bit lighter muscled than I prefer.
English

@NYKCattle @GenexCanadaBeef Did you keep any heifers out of Trademark? Curious how the females are out of him. Thanks ✌️
Mandan, ND 🇺🇸 English

Bull calf by J Trademark 1037. 10 yr old dam by Connealy Imprint. I think she would be happy if I weaned him asap 😂 @GenexCanadaBeef

English

@garrett_wolf3 No. We freeze brand the bulls we sell. Customers love it and it's good advertising/brand recognition (pun intended). Put numbers on the hip this year too for them. We also brand cows for community pasture.
English

@NYKCattle Do you guys have brand inspection? Thought you didn’t there
English

@overbystockfarm Clearly would be more regenerative branding left to right. Silly me
English

@NYKCattle I disagree with branding from back to front. Therefore, everything you do in your program is wrong. 😂
English

@tnbangus Hahaha 😂. She's just coming into heat so she's still playing hard to get.
English

@NYKCattle Speaking from experience. She doesn't seem interested
English

@NYKCattle 90 acres of the 230 they are on right now have actually been farmed in my lifetime so some high ground out there. Good mix of bush, swamp, and dry hills. Perfect for calving.
