NYPD 47th Precinct

As we approach Easter Sunday, we reflect on our time together at the 47th Precinct Clergy Council Prayer Breakfast on March 26; a moment grounded in faith, unity, and service. This season reminds us why these connections matter.

Out the other night in Woodlawn our Auxiliary officers were on deployment maintaining a visible presence engaging with the community and supporting ongoing public safety efforts always out there always ready.

The 47PCT would like to remind drivers, to slow down and look both ways as they approach the turn.

We heard your concerns and followed through. The 47th Precinct joined the Department of Sanitation and Bronx Towing Inc. in a coordinated operation targeting abandoned and derelict vehicles.

Welcoming the newest members of the 47th Precinct. It’s hard to capture them all together as they already have their boots on the ground across the 47, getting right to work. Wishing all 26 a safe and successful start with the New York City Police Department.

Our Crime Prevention Officer conducted a targeted flyer operation addressing recent grand larceny auto patterns, focusing on tire & rim thefts. Tips shared: use wheel locks, park in well-lit areas, activate alarms, install cameras, and secure valuables.

The 47th Precinct hosted its Precinct Iftar, bringing together members of the service to recognize Ramadan and the dedication of our Muslim officers. Thank you to the NYC PBA, Assistant Chief Benjamin D. Gurley, Deputy Chief Osvaldo Núñez, and the family of Det. Didarul Islam.

Our kickball event was a great success 🤾🏾. The 47th Precinct would like thank everyone who came out, participated and helped make the day such a fun and positive experience for our community. It was great to see so many people enjoying the game, connecting with the youth.

Last night, the 47 Pct Special Operations team, together with the Commanding Officer, was out in the community engaging with residents and maintaining a strong presence throughout the 47th Precinct.

Our Crime Prevention Officer and Auxiliary Sergeant conducted outreach in the area, putting out flyers to share safety information with delivery workers and encourage everyone to stay aware of their surroundings.

Alongside the NYC PBA, we come together to honor Police Officer George Werdann and reflect on the sacrifice he made protecting others. His bravery and dedication remain an enduring part of the 47th Precinct’s history

On February 21, 1982, off-duty Officer Werdann saw a robbery in progress and stepped in without hesitation. He was shot and killed protecting others. A three-year veteran of the New York City Police Department’s 47th Precinct, he is remembered for his courage and sacrifice.

Our Crime Prevention Officer was out in the community conducting auto larceny prevention outreach. Flyers were placed on vehicles, focusing on Kia and Hyundai models due to theft trends. Residents were also reminded to remove keys, lock doors, and use steering wheel locks.
