Take a look at these stats. @NyTimes management doesn’t want to pay employees to have good health care but has no problem shoveling money into the pockets of shareholders.

At our second bargaining session yesterday, @NYTimes management's actions spoke louder than words. After giving us a lecture saying we are the ones “bogging” things down, company reps wholly rejected our proposals.

Spent the day at the negotiating table with @NYTimesGuild bargaining with the New York Times.

And we’re ready to do whatever it takes!

We are fighting for a contract that keeps union work in our union, including our Athletic coworkers; wages that recognize our contributions to the company’s success; remote work flexibility; meaningful A.I. protections; and affordable health care....

THE TIMES IS UNION-MADE: Today we began bargaining our new contract, and in our first session, we not only told management we were united, we showed them. Our bargaining committee presented a pledge signed by 80% of our union, supporting five core priorities…..

@nytimes @amazon We stand on the shoulders of the many shops who have already won strong contract language that supports the interests of their journalists and the public. Our readers, viewers and listeners deserve human-generated news. Not slop.

For example, the @NYTimes licensed its catalog to @Amazon for use in training its A.I. models and to feature short summaries of news stories across Amazon products. We are concerned there are inadequate safeguards built in to make sure those are accurate.

We are optimistic about A.I. as a tool in our reporting -- but we are ready to fight hard against any ways in which @NYTimes could use it to undermine our journalism, replace our members or require us to use technology we find immoral or unethical.
