"It requires a constitution that reflects our foundation in te Tiriti o Waitangi and our multi-cultural, multi-ethnic society. It also requires a constitution established by law and under which power can be held in check by law," she adds.

"We need a constitutional reset. We need to work towards a governmental structure that upholds and protects all our rights, including Māori political rights," says Professor Charters.
