Why Shani Jayanti is not trending today? Shani Jayanti is celebrated during Jyeshtha Amavasya i e today. As per Bhrigu Samhita (Commentary of Bhagwaji Mittal - Pg no 15), Shani is a planet which is strong and firm. Let us ponder on the birth of Shanidev through scriptures. BIRTH OF SHANI DEV: - As per Varah Puran chapter 20, Marichi is the son of Brahma. Brahma himself took 14 forms as his sons. Marichi was the eldest. Kashyap, the father of all Devtas was the eldest son of Marichi. The 12 Aditya's were the sons of Kashyap. These 12 adityas represent the 12 months. Out of these 12 Adityas, Martand (Sun) was very heroic. Martand was married to Sangya who was the daughter of Vishvakarma. Yam and Yamuna were their children. As Sangya was unable to bear the heat of Martand, she transformed herself into mare and went away towards North Kuru. But before leaving, she created a Shadow woman Chhaya to look after her children. This woman too had two children named Shani and Tapti from Suryadev. But the new woman ill treated the children of Sangya. Surya Dev or Martand tried talking to Chhaya to mend her ways towards the children of Sangya but to no result. When Yam complained about this ill treatment to his father, Chhaya cursed him to become the King of Preatas. When Yam became disrressed, Surya Dev consoled him and said that whatever may be the result, but Yam would never do injustice and would decide about Dharma and Sins. But an angry and distressed Surya Dev cursed Shani Dev that due to your mothers cruelty, your eyes too will gain cruelty. From that time onwards, his eyes became crooked. REASON BEHIND HIS VAKRA DRISHTI (CROOKED EYES): - There is an another story of Vakra Drishti (Crooked eyes) mentioned in Ganesh Puran. Shani Dev narrated another story as per Ganesh Puran (Third part, chapter eighth) mentions to Devi Parvati. He said that he was married to the daughter of Chitrarath. Talking about himself he tells Mata Parvati and her friends that he was an avid Krishna devotee and he was dispassionate about worldly matters. Once his wife became very angry at him as she had bathed and did make ups of 16 Shringar and was ready for her husbands approval. But Shani Dev did not pay any attention. This made the wife very angry as the husband did not pay attention, she cursed him that since he not even glanced in her direction, so from now on wherever Shani Dev would glance, that thing would be destroyed:- "न दृष्टाहं त्वया येन न कृतमृतुरक्षणम् । त्वया दृष्टछ यद्वस्तु मूढ! सर्वं विनश्यति ॥" When these words reached my ears, I realized the gravity of the situation. The wife too understood the repercussions. But she too had lost her power to undo this curse. So from then on Shani Dev looks at everybody through crooked eyes. So as to avoid any untoward thing. This crooked vision means a sure destruction but onething is sure. There justice shall always prevail as he is known be deity of Justice and Dand.

Similarly, Swastika, the symbol of auspiciousness, is a symbol of Lakshmi, or Sri. The owl represents wisdom, watchfulness, and sometimes prosperity hidden in darkness (symbolic of wealth emerging from hidden places). In Indo-European traditions within India and outside, Swastika is an auspicious stellar symbol, heavily associated with Lakṣmī and Śrī. This is a Vedic textual anchor for a symbolic motif that appears in many Bronze Age European cultures - a goddess in a chariot surrounded by auspicious animal, bird and divine symbols. Horses (Aśva): Symbolize speed, energy, wealth, and nobility, also associated with the sun (Aśvins, Sūrya’s chariot). Chariot (Ratha): Vehicle of divine movement; indicates Lakṣmī’s regal and mobile nature. Elephant Sounds (Hasti-nāda): Symbol of royalty, majesty, abundance, and auspiciousness. Elephants also accompany Lakṣmī in later Puranic iconography (as Gaja-Lakṣmī). Hasti also connects Sri / Lakshmi to Hastinapura and hence to Pandava Queen Draupadi. This is another evidence for Out of India migrations from India to Europe, in this case to Serbia.
