@DanScholtzWCDSB I hear you, but I also think a first year teacher would much rather have a binder for guidance than create lesson plans for a whole course from scratch 😅 (that was my wife’s first year teaching secondary science and it was brutal)

Thanks to WCDSB and WRDSB for hosting @pgliljedahl tonight for some evening PD! I took a LOT from this presentation that I'll use in my class, but something that just won't leave my head is this quote: "The worst thing you can give a new teacher is a binder". I used to ... (1/2)

Session with @ClaireAVarley @NelsonClassroom on CRRP: • Know thy learner - as a whole person, not just diagnosing learning levels • “Not about us, without us” - ❎ avoid tokenism by writing with members of a community (Indigenous, Black Canadians, LGBT etc.) #wfmp

On effects post-pandemic: • less attention span and social skills • avoidant behaviour (of school/mental work) • Attendance issues (even adults are fighting back-to-office) Indigenous students in Catholic schools, there are sensitive subjects/history to cover #wfmp2022

The thing people often don’t talk about in teaching is how much of it is a performance. No matter what’s going on in your life you stand up in front of those kids and perform and if you’re ill or something challenging is going on in your personal life, that’s exhausting.

@CHill_WRDSB Great to see WRDSB going on the “offensive” with building a better learning experience before something bad happens (like somr OntEd boards with racism/equity issues and poor leadership being exposed)

So proud to work with jeewan. My favourite part: “Making sure that all kids can be successful is not a woke agenda…It’s us, as a public school district, caring about all kids.” theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

When we provide the necessary conditions for those most in need, all @WRDSB students benefit in their academic achievement & well-being. The efforts of Extended Day Programs staff in helping lower costs for the families we serve is a great example: wrdsb.social/3eDXKyJ
