@Leafs_25 @TrueBurna it nerfs the teams that cared about their natures being hidden, which is good for the other teams that don't care about that (most commonly teams which are published).
i'm assuming you're referring to japan nats, which is played entirely CTS until top 8. cheese is king at JCS.
English

@NailsOU @TrueBurna How does this buff recycled teams it literally does not change teambuilding other than teams that relied on natures being hidden to get wins.
The most innovative region in the whole world is Japan and they have had this rule since OTS was legal no?
English

Not really lol.
Running a more defensive spread on an offensive mon (say Impish Ogerpon) or a faster support piece can definitely ve a good thing depending on the team while also being somewhat surprising. I don't think running atypical natures is something that is indicative

@TrueBurna To be clear you’re not actually talking about creativity here you are talking about surprise If a set is good it should be good on its own merit not because you can prey on fooling people with it
English

@Leafs_25 @TrueBurna it's a spectrum with gimmick on one end and innovative breakthrough on the other. every new set falls somewhere on the line, and regardless of where it falls it gets nerfed by this change. falling tide sinks all ships. it buffs recycled teams that weren't trying to innovate.
English

@NailsOU @TrueBurna The change doesn’t nerf novelty it nerfs gimmicks
If you have a novel set that fits what your team needs you run it
What this buffs is the better pilot will now win slightly more often and lose slightly less due to cheese, overall good for the game
English

@Leafs_25 @TrueBurna it's not that black and white, a novel set can be both things. if two sets are equally good when known but one had the benefit of being unexpected you'd run the sidegrade that's harder to play against. surprise is a real thing with tangible value. this change nerfs novelty.
English

@TrueBurna Then it should be a good thing to run on its own, right?
This changes 0 things about teambuilding that wasn’t trying to cheese game one anyways. If a set is good it is good

If we can further interpret "a piece of ice" as "a small / diminutive fragment coming from a larger ice body" then we can infer that the etymology of "icicle" is "ice, ice baby"
Grǣġhama@grahamscheper
“icicle” is a compound word: an ice + icle. But what is an “icle”? It comes from Old English ġiċel, which literally means “piece of ice” (this is where Icelandic gets “jaki”) but also icicle per se. So, funnily enough, the ancestor of icicle (īs+ġiċel) meant “icy icicle”
English

@6squirrels1 @JacobSkraw believe me i'm aware, i'm one of the leading forces driving that innovation insofar as any individual player can claim to be. after a certain point of a format (usually it takes a few tournaments) they start to turn into matchup roulette. early format is the most skill-based.
English

@NailsOU @JacobSkraw Formats will evolve for as long as they have tournaments that people want to win. I’d rather the ebbs and flows come from innovative players than up top saying “how do things change if now this is allowed?”
English

@JacobSkraw i think stale formats are boring and lame, fresh formats are awesome and fun and cool. basically what donald said, make small tweaks every monthish that nudge the metagame in a direction. there's a ton of rippling consequences without breaking anything usually. 4 good mons/month.
English

@mentalsyndrome every format sucks once it gets stale, development is the whole point
