Surely you can't follow your rival if they are pushing 20 watts more (the difference in 2022 must've been way lower and still Pog couldnt drop Jonas while Jonas did on Hautacam + was better in last itt)

I think people underrate how valuable Pogacar punch/general racing ability is for TDF GC. Just this advantage in 30s-2min power + intangibles means he can beat recent Jonas in GC with ~635/660 aSLP (hard day/unipuerto) while Jonas needs ~685/710 aSLP to have a chance against Pog.

@NairoInGreen The peloton closed the gap at pretty much the rate I would have expected given that it was a techie circuit and none of the teams wanted to burn through all their leadout men. They just left it too late, they should stop whining!

@NairoInGreen I actually believe the neutralisation and therefore the lack of work from the GC teams contributed majorly to the gap not dropping as quickly. The sprint teams normally can rest from 10 to 3 to go and today they didn't have Visma going ham at the front to keep Jonas safe.
