This is a German satirical caricature (published around 1930–1932, often associated with the magazine Kladderadatsch). It uses racist imagery to express anxiety over France’s use of colonial (African) troops during and after World War I. The Germans foresaw this future where Black people dominate French society and culture, while the remaining Frenchmen become rare curiosities displayed in a zoo-like enclosure (where they belong) for amusement complete with a “do not feed” sign.
