🤔What if a 3-minute task could flag students with DLD? Ward et al.'s (2024) meta-analysis of 46 studies established that children with DLD score 2 standard deviations below typically developing peers on sentence repetition. Ou new study extended that work. We found that fourth graders with dyslexia who qualified for speech-language services scored significantly lower on sentence repetition than dyslexia-only peers (Hedges' g = −1.61), suggesting the task may help identify broader language vulnerability within dyslexia-identified populations. 🔗Read it here: rdcu.be/ffZQd

We’re always excited to see Symposium conversations continue beyond the event. After presenting at AIM’s 2026 Research to Practice Symposium, @markseidenberg shared a new piece exploring how early language development shapes reading outcomes. It’s a timely reminder: how children learn to read is deeply connected to how they develop language. Take a look: bit.ly/4ttd6Y7

Leonardo da Vinci had dyslexia. Albert Einstein had dyslexia. Richard Branson has dyslexia. Steve Jobs had dyslexia. Mr. President — with respect — dyslexia has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. We don’t do politics. But we do this. @MadeByDyslexia @reading_league @NationalParents @DyslexiaIDA

Thank you @liv2learn for being such an important part of @AIMtoLearn @AIMSchool 20th anniversary Research to Practice Symposium! It was an honor to have you share your expertise!
Pam Kastner@liv2learn

What an honor to not only attend AIM’s 14th Annual Research to Practice Symposium but to also join a practitioner panel focusing on orthographic mapping with Dr. Katie Pace Miles and Dr. Renata Archie. Even to be in the room with such dedicated educators who attended live, and the over 6,000 educators who joined from across the world made it a day to remember. But, to learn with and from Nancy Hennessy, Ken Pugh, Laurie Cutting, Devin Kearns, Ramona Pittman, Aviva Coyne-Green, Mark Seidenberg, Hollis Scarbrough, Linnea Ehri, Katie Pace Miles, Renata Archie, Don Compton, Kate Cain, Elsa Cárdenas-Hagan, MeQuel Bolden, and Kristen Wynn is truly a literacy lover’s dream come true. To top it off, to be there when Reid Lyon was awarded the Hollis Scarborough Award with such grace and humility, was truly a gift. Then how lucky for me to join the dedicated team from the Lower Dauphin School District to view the ORIGINAL Reading Rope drawn by the one and only Dr. Hollis Scarborough and on display at AIM Institute for Learning & Research! How kind of the AIM team to make this possible and to be joined by my dear friend, Amy Sprout Sell , who is also a The Reading League PA Board Member!!! Many thanks to Pat Roberts and Nancy Blair, and the entire AIM team who made such an important contribution to our field with this amazing day!

Dr. Reid Lyon is a true national hero in the fight for literacy. 🇺🇸📚 We need bold, cross-sector collaboration to help every child learn to read — and leaders like him who can bring science, policy, and practice together. Our kids can’t wait. #AIMSymposium2026

The author of the Reading Rope, Dr. Hollis Scarborough, reminds us: oral language is foundational to reading success. If we identify language struggles earlier, we can intervene earlier. Earlier support = fewer children experiencing the devastating effects of reading failure. This is how we protect our kids. This is how we change trajectories. 📚🧠 #AIMSymposium2026 @AIMtoLearn
