.@icecube partnered with the @Hoophall for his “Ice Cube Impact Award”, presented for the first time on January 15, 2024 . This unique collaboration honors Ice Cube’s extraordinary contributions to the world of basketball, his unparalleled passion for the game, and his unwavering commitment to encouraging crucial dialogues surrounding inclusivity, equal opportunity, and racial and social justice while contributing to initiatives focused on education and community development. Cooper Flagg posted his 10th double-double with 27 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 2 blocks in today’s win at Cleveland. He joined Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Johnson and Derik Queen as the only rookies in NBA history to post those numbers in a game.

There are moments in life that stay with you forever. June 22, 1997 was one of those days for me. I had the privilege of suiting up for the inaugural season of the WNBA with the Phoenix Mercury, wearing #10 and stepping onto the court for a brand-new chapter in women’s basketball. Our head coach, the legendary Cheryl Miller, stood on the sidelines leading us with the same brilliance she once displayed as a player, even though she never got the chance to compete in a league like this. That night in Phoenix, in front of 16,102 fans, we made history as the Mercury defeated the Charlotte Sting 76–59 in our franchise’s first game. Bridget Pettis scored 17 points and Toni Foster added 14 as we opened the WNBA era in style. For me, it was about more than basketball. I was 39 years old, grateful to still be playing the game I love, finishing that night with 8 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds in 21 minutes while doing what point guards do best—running the floor and helping teammates shine. My son TJ was there watching his mom live out a dream, and I’ll never forget that feeling. I also thought about pioneers like Ann Meyers Drysdale and so many women who helped pave the way long before the WNBA ever existed. During Women’s History Month, moments like this remind me how powerful it is to celebrate not just my own journey, but the journey of all my sisters who have worn a WNBA jersey. That night wasn’t just a game… it was the beginning of a legacy. #WomensHistoryMonth #WNBAHistory #PhoenixMercury #WomenInSports #Trailblazers 🏀✨
