What a joy to interview Nicholas Meyer, the director of The Day After, for my podcast. He’s so funny, charismatic and cool. And he kind of saved the world. I want to be more like him! ❤️

@reece_dinsdale Bobby come on lad! Only the greatest nuclear war programme ever made, that traumatised me and still does!

If you don’t know what that’s from Bobby, you need an education! 😉😄

Hi @reece_dinsdale is this you on the right? Its from the 80's

The press really done a job on me last year. At times it felt like they were trying to make me Britain’s most unpopular man, and sometimes when I read some of the comments I get on here now….i think they might just have done that 😂🙈 I hardly ever got any trolls…but recently…… bloody hell! 🙈
I wish I’d never spent thousands on PR firm last year who pushed into doing stories that didn’t feel right with me. I trusted the process, and I trusted people who said they knew best….. but looking back, they never helped me. They probably was adding fuel to the fire, I will never know.
If I’m gonna be completely honest, the whole thing has knocked me. More than I admit. I’m gonna start talking about that, because I don’t think I dealt with it properly.
I’ve made plenty of mistakes. I own that. But it felt like once the media and press got their claws into me, I couldn’t win. No matter what I did, it was twisted, exaggerated and most of it completely untrue.
I’ve worked so hard for what I have in life, I never had a penny ten years ago. Fighting is all I know. But it’s knocked the wind out of me a bit. I try to carry on spreading my positivity for everyone. But today I’m having a down evening.
I’m writing this because I just went to the shop to grab milk for the twins, and a bloke buying bread stopped me. He said, “Keep your chin up, son. People round here know you’re a good lad.” And that just finished me, because every time I get stopped by strangers … it’s always the first thing they mention about the press I’ve received. Them journalists are nasty bits of work for what they put me and my family through.
I’m feeling a bit down this evening if I’m honest. But the one thing I do know is how strong me and my wife are. We’ve been tested, proper tested, but we’re still standing, still together, still fighting for our family. My wife is my rock and she means so much to me. A beautiful mother and loving wife a she keeps our little family unit going.
Good night an god bless. I just felt like I needed to get that out there. Maybe it’s the reason I’m so passionate about the walks I’ve been doing, because I need them as much as anyone. Thanks for reading. Sending you all love. Bosh❤️

No, this is a fictitious character called John.
What’s your point?

@reece_dinsdale Is this you?
English

@reece_dinsdale Only a 'fictitious character' you say?
You'll be trying to tell people you weren't really caught up in a nuclear blast in Sheffield next...

@allthatchas @CNDuk Joining CND felt like the only thing I could do against the hopelessness of it!
English

@allthatchas @CNDuk Hello, I was 16 when I watched Threads, I joined CND after watching it, I never went on any marches so couldn’t comment if the number increased. After watching it and living in the north west of England which was grim, it felt a letter of when not if! Seemed inevitable!
English

Hello! I do a podcast about the nuclear war film, Threads. I’d love to speak to anyone who was a CND member in 1984 and noticed a spike of new members after Threads was broadcast. Or anyone who joined CND after watching Threads. Please retweet @CNDuk 🙏🏼❤️

@allthatchas Great thanks for the reply I thought I had missed it! Hopefully will get to see it! Really hoping you get Mick on soon that would be immense! Keep up the great work!
English

Thanks ever so much! The documentary is a feature-length TV documentary, which I saw at its premiere in Sheffield in the summer. Hopefully a wider release soon. More here: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@allthatchas hi, loving your Threads podcast, was traumatised at 16 by it and never recovered! You mention a documentary about threads in the podcast, is this the radio 4 one or something else? Thanks

@danny_robins brilliant show in Edinburgh tonight, spooky stories and some that really made you think! Wasn’t brave enough to ask the experts a question, maybe in Glasgow! @_EvelynHollow @ciaranokeeffe

OK, so we are doing a cover tonight on Jo While’s show - not only is it one of my favourite songs ever, but we also have a member of the original band involved PLUS two other people from TWO different legendary bands who will be joining us on the song. Not to be missed 😉
