*As a Mangu Youth, I Apologize, We are Sorry: Cdr. Yilchini Jan Bida (rtd) apologizes to the Ngolong Ngas.* The Plateau State APC gubernatorial frontrunner, Cdr. Yilchini Jan Bida (rtd), paid a special visit to the palace of the Ngas paramount ruler, His Royal Majesty Nde Jika Golit, in Pankshin to tender his apology to the Ngolong over the recent assault on his convoy at Sabon Gari, Mangu. The retired commander, who was raised in Mangu, was visibly emotional as he spoke at the Ngolong Ngas palace. In his words: “Being someone who grew up in Mangu, it is heartbreaking to hear about such an attack because I know Mangu people to be peaceful. I apologize on behalf of my brothers and fellow youths from Mangu.” He described the incident as unfortunate, stressing that unity remains our greatest strength and that traditional institutions must always be treated with respect and dignity. He further emphasized that the strength of every community depends greatly on how its traditional leaders are honored, noting that just as every child draws strength from their father, communities draw stability from their traditional institutions. Never again should any traditional ruler be embarrassed when I become the governor because whenever an incident like that happens, we must fish out the perpetrators to serve as a deterant to others. Cdr. Yilchini Jan Bida also used the opportunity to formally inform His Royal Majesty whom he described as his father and leader of his aspiration for the governorship seat of Plateau State. “Plateau is in darkness, and I want to bring lights. We want people to come to Plateau. We must come together to say enough is enough. I want Plateau people to stand with me so that together we can make a difference by 2027. I therefore seek your consent and royal blessings, Sir,” he said. The Ngolong, who was emotionally moved, appreciated the retired commander for the visit and his sincere words of remorse. Speaking on Cdr. Yilchini’s aspiration, the royal father was quoted as saying: “As a father, I give you my full royal blessing. May God go ahead of you, and may He grant you victory. Do not engage in campaigns of calumny or belligerence. Victory comes from God, and if His anointing is upon you, no one can stop it.” The Ngolong also prayed for his safety and for divine guidance as he embarks on his political journey. LIGHTS Media
