Yup. I started out active duty life as a Patriot Operator/Maintainer. Those Tornado shoot downs were a tragedy and the guys who pressed the button were extremely torn up about it. I know a lot about the incident as I was working for Raytheon at the time. Got to see the raw data off the tape. Tragic and given the circumstances, unavoidable at the time.

@Gen_X_Vet @OfAthenry Correct. There are multiple levels of 'friendly protect' for ADA, and especially within the Patriot system: IFF, Air Control Measures, and ADA ROE (Hold, Tight, Free). This is 100% operator error with the Kuwaiti ADA personnel.

@OfAthenry If the pilots were all returning in a properly coordinated safe passage corridor, in the right 3D space at the right speed, they had nothing to worry about. Someone fucked up on the ground. If it was a Patriot battery, those pilots are lucky to be alive.
