Harness Fire – Pope Valley On Thursday, CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire in the 2500 block of Harness Road in Pope Valley, Napa County. Napa County Fire Department Defensible Space Inspectors, who were working in the area conducting defensible space re-inspections, confirmed a working fire and provided an immediate size-up to responding crews. Firefighters made an aggressive initial attack, allowing for a quick knockdown of the fire and preventing it from spreading into the surrounding vegetation. Crews remain on scene completing salvage and overhaul operations. About a month ago, Napa County Fire Department Defensible Space Inspectors conducted initial inspections throughout this neighborhood. The residence involved in today’s fire was compliant with defensible space requirements. That defensible space played an important role and helped prevent the fire from extending into nearby vegetation, reducing the potential for a large wildfire. This incident is a great reminder that creating and maintaining defensible space around your home gives firefighters a safer and more effective opportunity to protect lives and property.

Fire Department resources are at scene of a residential structure fire in Pope Valley’s Berryessa Estates community. The fire is well established in the attic and currently not spreading to the vegetation or neighboring homes.
