Western Railway has till now notified around 75 pairs of Special trains during this festive season with more than 2400 trips. These trains are being run for various destinations in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, North India, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, etc. To cater to the passengers from Surat, Udhna & nearby vicinity, around 40 pairs of originating Festival Special trains with almost 530 trips are being run from Udhna/Surat. Today, on 19th October, apart from 6 regular trains, 15 special trains are being run, including 6 unreserved special trains. In addition to this, looking into the heavy rush, extra unreserved special trains for Jayanagar were notified from Udhna, at 04:00 hrs & 14:15 hrs. With meticulous planning & seamless coordination, Western Railway ensured smooth dispersal of rush at Udhna and the entire rush has been cleared before 16:00 hrs. More than 22800 passengers have been ferried from Surat/Udhna on 18th October, 2025 by various trains. Today on 19th October, 2025, around 36000 passengers have travelled from Udhna by the various trains. This is the highest number of passengers travelled in a single day and is an increase of 44% as compared to last year, wherein 25000 passengers travelled in a single day. Adequate crowd management and control measures have also been taken like creation of holding areas on East and West sides of Surat and Udhna stations, increased booking windows and shifts, adequate RPF, GRP, Ticket checking and booking staff with close monitoring by senior officer. 11 extra Ticket windows are being operated with 38 shifts. Additionally, adequate staff have been deployed with mobile UTS to issue tickets to passengers waiting at the holding area. Passengers first come to the holding areas where there are adequate facilities for sitting, lighting, drinking water and toilet facilities. Drinking water bottles are also being distributed to the passengers waiting in the queues. Regular announcements are also done. Crowd is monitored real time so that quick action can be taken if needed.
