The JGR temporary restraining order that limits Chris Gabehart from performing similar duties at Spire as he did at JGR is extended through Tuesday. Was set to expire today but judge wanted time to weigh the info in the filings this week about him being at Bristol.

Stage points reward inconsequential performance. Running 7th on lap 45 shouldn't score points. Only award stage winners 5 points and bring back drama to late race mistakes. It skews the standings away from the ACTUAL RACE RESULTS. Nobody cares who led Q1 of a football game.

@Pudman3 @mforde @NASCAR Bristol has not been the same since the repave... that track used to be sold out years ahead of time. I would drive through Bristol and every corner would have people selling tickets. Now... it's just another race.

@mforde @NASCAR has been steadily been shooting themselves in the foot for a LONG time. Watched a 20116brace at Bristol on a beautiful 72 degree day in which the stands were about 1/3 full. This was IMO a direct result of the garbage COT their most foolish venture in a long time.

@jeff_gluck Cleetus is a class act. He is taking everything in stride and ready to learn. I absolutely love his attitude and no one can deny he is a wheelman. Give him some time and he may suprise us.

Here’s how Cleetus reacted to the news:

NASCAR says Cleetus McFarland has not been approved to run the Talladega O’Reilly race in a few weeks. He is still approved for short track races in that series but they want to see him run more first before going to bigger tracks. NASCAR’s John Probst via the sanctioning body’s “Hauler Talk” podcast: “We're all huge Cleetus fans. We all watch his videos and are certainly very appreciative of everything he's done in our sport and will continue to do in our sport. He is approved right now for O'Reilly Series short tracks, which means he's good for all of ARCA, all of Truck, and then O'Reilly up through the short tracks. We'd like to see more out of Cleetus in the short tracks. So we're not saying no, but there is more that we would like to see out of Cleetus before we would approve him for Talladega.”
