YOBE UPDATE: According to an aide to Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan @ezreltabiowo, the key contenders for the Yobe governorship seat—Senators Ahmed Lawan, Ibrahim Bomai, and others—walked out of the caucus meeting yesterday without reaching any agreement. After they left the meeting, Geidam, MBuni, and the party chairman endorsed Baba Mallam Wali from Yobe North as their preferred candidate. The key contenders insisted that if the ticket must be zoned to Yobe North, then Senator Ahmed Lawan is the only candidate they will support. As it stands, the Yobe APC has no consensus candidate—only the government’s preferred candidate. Therefore, a direct primary is likely unless there are further developments.
