@AndrewMarr9 took @EdwardJDavey to task this morning, quite rightly on the definition of the word 'woman'. This isn't a trans rights issue, its a women's rights issue. We simply cannot protect women in legislation if we cannot define what a woman is. we.tl/t-A4wIVji09k?s…

So let's break down the timeline:🧵 2016 - I start to read mutterings in Guiding groups about girls who are "now boys" and people asking if they can stay in Guiding. No, say the mods, they are boys now, why would they want to? Early 2018 - I am now aware that this is policy and

Finally a vaguely sensible response from a @LibDems MP around #PubertyBlockers. For years, challenge has not been allowed around the 2015 trans charter which promoted puberty blockers to children. Can this now be effectively challenged at conference?

The children are usually forced by the court into unsafe and harmful contact. The courts frame DV as 'conflict between the parents' and have no training around DV and coercive control.

My heart broke when I just watched the forced confession of this young boy on Iran’s state TV. They tell him: “You are Mohareb.” He asks: “What does that mean?” He was so young, he didn’t understand that it means one thing in Islamic Republic: execution A 17-year-old boy, Shervin Bagherian, was arrested in Iran’s recent protest. Now in the middle of a war they are preparing to execute him. His only crime was wanting a normal life. There is still time to speak up. Will you stand with me and be his voice before it’s too late? #StopExecutionsInIran

They want to hang them in Iran for protesting. Will you stand with us and be their voice? In the middle of war the regime in iran hanged a19 year old wrestler, and now they are pushing forward more death sentences against those arrested during the uprising. This young Baha’i man in Iran, Peyvand Naeimi, is facing execution after being tortured, interrogated, and put through two mock hangings. Two times they walked him to death. Two times they made him believe it was over. Then they brought him back just to break him further. He was arrested during protests for demanding change. Best friends and family are worried for his conditions in prison. Please be join me and be his voice before it’s too late. #StopExecutionsInIran 💔

Ahoura Safayi Rad is 16. Arrested in Iran for protesting. Now facing execution by hanging. Not for violence. Not for a crime. For simply speaking out. A child is at risk of being executed by the regime in Iran. And once again, the world is far too quiet.

Today prog has just told us we will hear a tribute to Jenni Murray from Harriet Harman. Might have been better to get someone to pay tribute who actually stuck up for her after she was isolated for her view that men should not be able to identify into women's spaces and sports.

We are very grateful to Dame Murray for speaking at our first ever fringe event in Bournemouth in 2023. Back when we couldn't even get an advert in the Lib Dems conference literature. Here is her write up. 2/2 dailymail.co.uk/lifestyle/arti…

This appears to be the feminist version of the GRA. Neither the GRA nor this are welcomed or wanted by the public who hold more moderate positions, and both will cause long term backlash.
boadicea@Boudicca_uk_ua

@Ella_M_Whelan No woman is asking for this. Literally no one, apart from a handful, were campaigning for this. The only people this benefits are those who make money from aborting babies, the abortion pill manufacturers, and rapists who force their victims to have abortions.

@roseveniceallan A baby is not part of a womans body,it is an entirely separate being with its own feelings and who can feel pain. The abortion laws were settled,I'm not sure why anyone thought it was a good idea to open Pandora's box as this will have a long term opposite effect.

Nobody should be criminalised for doing something to their own body. Even in tragic circumstances when a woman is heavily pregnant, her body belongs to her, not her unborn baby or the state. Late term DIY abortions are traumatic and any woman choosing that needs help, not prison.

Not sure I agree with this a babe in the womb is very much alive, and can feel pain and emotions. Trusting women seems to be a very naive sentiment.
Milli Hill@millihill

@Englishfunk99 @ToniaAntoniazzi It doesn't remove protection if you trust women. Also, life begins at birth not conception. That is unless you see women (as some do) as a walking incubator or 'host body'.

There are names on this list that I'm sure don't want babies to be killed at birth, so I'm unclear as to why they have voted for this bill.

These are the 185 Lords who just voted to legalise DIY abortions up to the point of BIRTH. They deserve to be named and shamed. Never forget their betrayal. The abortion of healthy babies up till birth is not ok. Handing out pills by post, designed to bring on a miscarriage up to ten weeks, but not medically safe after that period, without a face to face consultation to check gestation, also not ok. Both came from the HoC after just 46 mins of debate & NO risk assessment. Not ok. I hope the HoL has more sense.

We need to talk about Sharia courts. For too long, a shadow justice system has been allowed to operate in the UK. Women and girls are invariably the victims. We must not tolerate parallel justice in the name of multiculturalism, says Stephen Sidney buff.ly/BVrILen
