I wish students knew how much more work goes into teaching online courses compared to in-person courses. Rather than just being lecturers, we are now also web designers and video editors and content creators. This is exhausting.

@GilleighD Yes, as an alt. to GST. We’ve tried just GST-tag in the past with both bacterial and insect cells, with not much success. So I’m wanting to compare Sumostar in insect cells to a dual-tag system in insect cells. Only have found two pubs, but don’t know anyone else who’s used it

@Nat_izzle I've never used this one, but I guess the question would be why were you thinking about it? Just want an alternate to gst or...?

Does anyone have experience using SUMOStar expression systems in insect cells and is it worth the cost? Need help comparing it to a typical GST-protein-His dual tag system before I convince my advisor that it’s a good investment 😅

@klausenhauser I’ve tried bacterial expression systems for about a year, but my protein is just not very functional or soluble. It is a fly protein, so my hope is using Sf9 cells to express will help. I would like to clarify I want to compare SumoStar to using GST-His in Sf9 cells

@Nat_izzle Why do you want to switch/need a fusion? If you already have an established insect cell system you can just test out the sumostarr as a fusion. The sequence is freely available.
