I agree with 99% of your post except for saying fans ran him out of Toronto. His poor play ran him out of Toronto. Leafs fans LOVED this guy more than Marner until he started taking stupid penalties and committing bad turnovers in multiple Game 7’s. If he played like this in Toronto, no one would’ve criticized him

If they continue with him putting over younger stars, I’m all for it, but he lost me completely when he took the title from Melo, he could’ve/should’ve been the heel that forced his way into a triple threat with Trick and Melo, not steal Melo’s Mania match completely
