There were several moments that game where the Nationals taking twelve seconds to burn their challenges really cost them. It’s still easy to blame the umpire for egregious misses. But a little easier for them to point a finger back, too. Don’t burn your challenges.

Second inning was almost more impressive than the first for Andrew Painter. Almost got BABIP’d to death but hung in really nicely. Adolis García helped a lot (and we’re all thinking the same thing about that).

I don’t get the outrage over this. If this margin means the catcher/hitter is guessing, it means the umpire is guessing too. That’s the point of ABS: to take away the guesswork. And anybody has the right to request that, with the associated risks.

This is what makes ABS so fascinating. Schwarber got rung up on a clear ball, but since he’d lost the challenge the very pitch before it, couldn’t do anything. Made a huge difference in that 10th inning.

I’m no expert on the Rangers’ bullpen construction, but idk, it feels like you do whatever you can to avoid Brandon Marsh facing a righty with a chance to tie the game. Even if it hurts the Adolis García matchup.
