Alright folks, the work for my book On The Cosmic Symbolism Of Bread has continued and an update is due: The introduction through the second chapter have now been entirely re-written and overhauled. While there are four more chapters left to re-write, the groundwork has now been completed (for the time being). The remaining chapters **should** be easier to write. I have attached a screenshot of the table of contents to the point where the manuscript is stable. I am also working with a cover artist to make a new cover for the book. Thank you all for your patience. More to come!

It's been a couple of months since I said anything about my progress on "On The Cosmic Symbolism Of Bread." In case anybody is curious, it's still a work in progress. I've been busy and at other times distracted. Many of the days that I do have time to write, I can't think clearly enough to write anything coherent, so those days tend to be rather unproductive. That said, the introduction is written and edited and is between 22-23 pages (depending on print formatting). Since writing the introduction, I've been overhauling some of the chapters to better express the contents in the intro. This is taking a lot longer than I expected. It has also been suggested to me to be patient on releasing the book, and so this has been the way I have treated it. It will be done when it is right and in time, it will be. Attached is the table of contents in case there is any interest (ignore the pagination. It has all changed).

"You cannot point to something as an illusion unless you are standing in something you take to be real" - Vervaeke paraphrasing Merleau-Ponty I see this as the same point Matthieu has been making with regards to "snake mind"

Did you know that in 2007, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia announced he would personally baptize every third or higher-order child born to married Orthodox couples. He conducted mass baptisms four times a year. Being baptized by Ilia II was considered one of the greatest honors in Georgian Orthodox life. A peer-reviewed study published in 2025 confirmed what followed. Orthodox women’s birth rate within marriage rose 42%. Third births doubled. The national fertility rate increased 17%. Marriage rates rose. Ilia II became godfather to over 47,000 children. He passed away this week at 93.

I harp on dreams and the imagination a lot because I see a lot of people without discernment thinking they know better than the Fathers and the Saints. Folks, don't be led by demons who disguise themselves as angels and givers of knowledge.

In step 3, "On exile or pilgrimmage" St John of the Ladder addresses dreams and fantasies: "A dream is a movement of the mind while the body is at rest. A fantasy is an illusion of the eyes when the intellect is asleep. A fantasy is an ecstasy of the mind when the body is awake. A fantasy is a vision of something which does not exist in reality." "The demons of vainglory prophesy in dreams. Being unscrupulous, they guess the future and foretell it to us. When these visions come true, we are amazed; and we are indeed elated with the thought that we are already near the gift of foreknowledge. A demon is often a prophet to those who believe him, but he is always a liar to those who despise him. Being a spirit, he sees what is happening in this lower air, and noticing that someone is dying, he foretells ut through dreams to the more light-minded. But the demons know nothing about the future from foreknowledge. For if they did, then the fortunetellers would also be able to foretell our death." "Demons often transform themselves into angels of light and take the form of martyrs, and make it appear to us during sleep that we are in communication with them. Then, when we wake up, they plunge us into unholy joy and conceit. But you can detect their deceit by this very fact. For angels reveal torments, judgements, and separations; and when we wake up we find that we are trembling and sad. As soon as we begin to believe the demons in dreams, then they make sport of us when we are awake, too. But he who distrusts all dreams is a wise man. Only believe dreams that warn you of torments and judgements. But if despair also afflicts you, then such dreams are also from demons." - St John Climacus (The Ladder of Divine Ascent, step 3:26, 28-29)

"In going into exile, beware of the demon of drifting and of sensual desire, because exile gives him his opportunity." - St John Climacus (The Ladder of Divine Ascent, step 3:5).

@JorgeYeeYeeYee It's a good read, but I think the title is misleading. It's more of a catechetical / introduction to the Church book than anything. So it's not about bread, wine, water, or oil haha.

Bread is not just a good symbol for theoria, but is also practical. A lot of intellectuals have metaphysics but no praxis. Baking has both.
