Akshardham Temple Akshardham Temple located on the banks of the Yamuna River (India) is India's most magnificent stone Hindu temple and tower complex. The project was invested and built by the non-profit religious organization BAPS in late 2000, completed in 2005. The temple was initiated by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the current head of the Hindu Swaminarayan religion. The temple is covered from top to bottom with intricate carvings of flora and fauna, dancers, musicians and deities. In particular, the building is built entirely from Rajasthani pink sandstone, Italian Carrara marble and does not use steel or concrete during the construction process.
