Native Movement’s Open Call Movement Fund aims to inspire and support movements for social justice, Indigenous rights, and the rights of Mother Earth through the direct funding of grassroots, intergenerational, and collective leadership efforts. The Movement Fund seeks to redistribute single one-time grants of $5,000-$25,000 to individual Alaska Native artists or artist collectives based full-time in Alaska. Funds will be granted based upon tiered levels in application. . To be eligible to apply, you must be Alaska Native (Indigenous to Alaska), live full-time in Alaska, and be at least 18 years of age at time of application. . 🧡HAPPENING TODAY 🧡 Join Native Movement, Alaska Radio Latina, and OutNorth for the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) craft gathering! The events will be held on October 23, 2024, and it will be located at Z.J. Loussac Library, 3600 Denali St, Anchorage, AK 99503. Dia de Los Muertos is a time when families gather to honor and remember deceased loved ones. This is a great opportunity to remember and celebrate the memory of the loved ones. We can show them respect by gathering and practicing this tradition together. We will be making tissue paper marigolds for community members to use to decorate their ofrendas. Marigolds are thought to attract the souls of the dead to the ofrendas prepared for them. Families will often scatter marigold petals forming a path from their front doors to the ofrenda waiting within the home. We’ll provide free materials! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn, share stories, and come together as a community to heal and celebrate
