and software scale might explode beyond what we can currently imagine. The future might not be “AI that codes like us.” It might be code we can’t even read.

LLMs write sloppy code because they’re forced to think in human languages built for humans. As models evolve, they may develop their own native machine-first languages. When that happens, much of today’s software engineering could become legacy thinking

@asmah2107 Incase of failure retry, threads will read last state from flat file or redis and picks up the batch and start from last processed email.

@asmah2107 Divide million emails into 100 batches each containing 10000 emails. I would spawn 10 threads in parallel to pick a batch and start sending mail. Maintain a simple 2d array in flat file or redis to mark processing batch and last successful Id of mail.

Your scheduler needs to send out million of “daily digest" emails every morning at 8 AM. On the big day, the server running the scheduler crashes halfway through the process. Some users get the email, some don't. Restarting risk duplicates. How do you fix this ?

Talking about data structures and algorithms (DSA) without considering computer architecture isn't rigorous. To truly make the most of DSA, we need to connect it with real-world environments. From now on, I will focus on sharing practical examples. Let's rethink the value of DSA.

@ActusDei @navdhakhera Paying monthly pensions can be a burden for the government, and in India, policies can change anytime, potentially lowering the payout rate without the beneficiary's consent. It's wiser to have control over your net worth after retirement.

@ActusDei @navdhakhera NPS matures at 60, which isn't helpful for corporate employees retiring at 50. Waiting 10 years to withdraw 60% is impractical, and the monthly pension is likely minimal.

My interview with @navdhakhera on retirement vehicles - EPF, PPF, NPS. I'm in favour of PPF & NPS. Those who say MFs alone are enough - please understand our changing capital gains tax system. It's good to have your money spread across different products youtu.be/OZI6QxbkyGU?si…

For context, Chinese food delivery app Meituan does 80 million orders daily, yes you read that right! I know India is far away but it will get there and 40x is a lot even from a few decades perspective! This is why Zomato valuations are high and will continue to remain high for a long time

Hindsight is 20/20, back when it happened everyone was up in arms saying they are playing with public money and bailing out a friend's company blah blah (so far as accusing the founders/execs for being related - even though it was public info since forever)

Zomato's @zomato acquisiton of Blinkit @letsblinkit is likely the best M&A ever done in India.

@SumitM14455640 On Infra structure, there are a lot of optimizations that can be done. Like using Solarflare Network Adapter, dedicated lease line, bare metal server with optimised hardware for the application. Lot depends on how low we want to in terms of milli or micro or nano.

@SumitM14455640 Ask is at a very high level. For a low latency system typical design is - Low GC (Direct Buffer) - Object Pooling - NIO based framework (like Netty, Akka, Vertx) - Lean Data structure (Primitive Collections) - High Performance MQ(Solace, NATS, LBM) - Pinning Thread to cores

You are tasked with designing a high-throughput, low-latency microservices-based application that handles massive amounts of data. How would you design your data storage and retrieval system to ensure scalability and performance?

@SumitM14455640 1. Analyse stack trace of null pointer exception. 2. Check the props file for missing or incorrect properties. 3. Grep logs to find if there are any exceptions during app startup.

User clicks on a button and gets NullPointerException, but the same case works correctly in the dev env. There are no log statements in code that help analyse the problem. How would you investigate, and what step would you take to ease debugging such problems in the future?
