Shopify is building the foundation for agentic commerce. Universal Commerce Protocol, which we co-developed with Google, is now live. UCP will make it faster for agents and retailers to integrate. It’s open by default, so platforms and agents can use UCP to start transacting with any merchant. Major retailers are already using it. Agents can handle everything from discovery to fulfillment, and support things like discounts, subscriptions, and loyalty programs. We’ve accounted for all types of commerce.

The latest introduction of Universal Commerce Protocol has been well received and agents will soon able to locate services through UCP, after which payment is requested via a 402 response and finalized on-chain via x402. UCP will be integrated into Naven's tech stack such that agents can now be involved in the end-to-end workflow process! #UCP #x402

Singapore's x402 event was absolutely electric and @programmer's demo nailed it. He showcased two key things: Coinbase Payments MCP, and how it can actually enforce spending limits for agent API purchases etc., a great first step for those who are already using agents for payments. The Singapore exclusive SFF merch demo also gave a glimpse into what’s coming: a world where agentic commerce runs seamlessly under the hood. Shoppers won’t even realize they’re leveraging the x402 protocol every time they make a stablecoin payment. Currently pushing new experiments with @GoKiteAI, and beyond stoked to be participating in @avax x402 hackathon. The future is agentic and let's x402 everthing! P.S. shoutout to @questflow and @CoinbaseDev for organizing this event!
