“Make it into a beanie.” I obeyed and I’m done. 🙂 If my dad could see this, I’m sure it’ll make him giggle. 🤭 Thank you @Simifoodies for giving us this photo. It will forever remain special to me.

Bọ́láńlé oní story 🖋️
I don’t know who needs to hear this: Àkàrà is Àkàrà, not beans cake. Mọ́ín-mọ́ín is Mọ́ín-mọ́ín, not bean pudding. Òjòjọ́ is Òjòjọ́, not water yam fritters or water yam cakes. Gbẹ̀gìrì is Gbẹ̀gìrì, not bean purée soup. Ẹ̀bà is Ẹ̀bà, not cassava flour dough. Àmàlà is Àmàlà, not dark yam dough or yam flour swallow. I am of the opinion that changing our Yorùbá food names to English will make them lose their originality.

The irony of the whole piracy conversation is that Lagos literary snobs who do not pay writers, who fraternize with dictators and politicians, and who shut people out of spaces because they feel disrespected are the ones cosplaying as upright people.

@RomeoOriogun I'd argue that Achebe wanted to teach. TFA sold over 20 million copies. That man wanted to teach. 😂

There are very few people who make money solely from writing. Adichie, Akwaeke, and Nnedi Okorafor are the only Nigerian writers I know who are living as practicing writers; the rest work as professors, editors, journalists, or curators.

There’s something very ghoulish about not being able to hold space for the offended party because an offence took place under precarious conditions. The need for black people to surrender their humanity and emotions unquestioningly and on demand. Welp.

That’s not what this trend is about and I’m honestly sick and tired of male centered women forcing themselves into every space meant to highlight women’s independence and success. A trend about women breaking limits set by patriarchy is not your cue to repackage the most basic, patriarchy approved end goal and call it empowerment. Marriage has been pushed down women’s throats for generations stop trying to sneak it back in as if it’s revolutionary.

The absence of permanent African seats on the Security Council is indefensible. The Security Council must reflect today’s world. This is 2026 — not 1946. Whenever decisions about Africa and the world are on the table, Africa must be at the table.
