Exciting news: The Nebraska Marathon is now The Nebraska Half. The 2024 Nebraska Half will take place on April 28. The race will feature a half marathon, 5k, & 1 mile kids run. The race will start and finish in downtown Omaha, at the Gene Leahy Mall at the @OmahaRiverFront

@Adam_Horton83 @Top100Rick Firethorn did 'limb up' the trees on 16, and now that tee shot is still challenging but fair. Can't recall a tee shot that a low ball flight and a high one on the exact same line are rewarded and punished respectively.

@Top100Rick Have you ever played Firethorn in Nebraska? It’s been almost 20yrs, played D3 Nationals there & the 16th hole had two trees that practically touched, off the tee you had to hit a iron low underneath them about 200ish & avoid a creek or hit 3 wood over them & bring a lake in play

Deep dive: (GCA nerds only) The 12th at Prairie Dunes, one of my favorite golf holes. It’s beautiful and difficult and controversial. But is it fair? Should the trees be chopped down? Trimmed way back? The trees cover half of the fairway. This means your target to get a clear approach shot is effectively 15 yards. You will see in the vids, I hit a good drive right center of fairway and yet have to make a tough choice on approach. Without the trees, it would still be a great golf hole. But the trees force a multitude of decisions. Off the tee, lay way back so you can clear the trees if right? If so, how far? If a long hitter, try to get past the trees? Just aim for the tiny fairway and worry about the next shot later? Also, if you lay back, the left bunker is more in play. The approach shot, unless in that small 15 yard fairway, forces you to hit a non standard shot. I had a choice to go low or high, I went low. I also went high to demonstrate, I had to really swing hard to clear the trees and even then just barely. Take away the trees, it’s hammer driver every time. That’s it. Still would be super fun because of the great tee box on a dune and the wonderful green, but the questions asked would be minimal. Would I want 18 holes like this? No. But to have one hole that asks tough questions and forces difficult shot making is wonderful. I love playing it every single time. I get to the top of the dune after 11 and just smile.
