@Chessala What I won’t tolerate is for anyone’s experiences to be dismissed simply because they are one way or another. We are all equal human beings who feel, suffer, and endure hardships. And in my view, everyone deserves the same respect and understanding.

@Chessala I understand your point and I agree with it. Socially imposed rules are nonsense, and even though that wasn’t the original focus of the conversation, the LGBTQ+ community has my full support. Every experience we go through helps shape us, help us grow, and make us stronger.

There are so many things I’d like to say, but I’m sure I’d end up leaving out many more. So I’ll sum it up by saying we’re all human beings, we all feel, suffer, live, and we should show a little more empathy, understanding, willingness to listen, and respect toward one another.

@Chessala @eijuncastle @jazz_bunnies Honestly, I think you have too idealized the idea that because we are straight we have more support than you, and reality is much further away than you think.

I'm not sure this will get through but you are missing the point of why it hurts more. It isn't because anyone doubts straight heartbreak is anything less painful. It's because being part of the LGBT+ community is isolating in a way you simply CAN'T understand as a straight person. If you are straight and experience heartbreak, you always can run to your friends/family and cry about it and know people will support and comfort you. You simply don't have that when you are part LGBT+. On Top of the heartbreak, unless you are exceedingly lucky and are out with accepting ppl around you that are your support system, you are not just heartbroken, you are also ALONE, having to deal with the internalized homophobia that is still part of this society. You can't talk to anyone (as I said, unless you are lucky) because you don't know hoe people will react. Will they support you? Will they start shunning you? You don't know- And on top of it, you already feel like something is wrong with you for even being in this situation. It's not just that you are heartbroken, you have an avalanche of emotions to deal with that a straight crush does not come with. Do they both hurt? Yes, no one says otherwise. But you can't claim straight people feel the same amount of isolation, guild, and self-loathing as LGBT+ people do (This is of course a generalized answer and not meant to include edge cases of straight ppl that have no one to talk to. Their experience would still be vastly different as they don't have to feel they deserve the suffering because something is wrong with them. At least not for the same reasons)

@Chessala @eijuncastle @jazz_bunnies As I’ve said a thousand times, it depends on each person’s situation, and I’m sure there are gay people who are having a terrible time, and I totally empathize with them, while others are lucky enough to have great support—just as is the case with the heterosexual community.

@Chessala @eijuncastle @jazz_bunnies This is coming from someone who tried to take their own life because of heartbreak, misunderstanding, and total rejection from the world around them. So show a little more empathy—you think that just because you’re straight, life is easier.
