@jcmoran__ @PollTracker2024 Slippery slope is not a logical fallacy.
We can use this as a specific example.
“Just let them get married”
Turned into
“Just let men box women as long as they identify as a woman too”
In about 10 years…

@GersonAdam31315 @s2money @AngelMD1103 Did you know that judges that are hungry statistically give harsher sentences?
English

@s2money @AngelMD1103 Just because he is in a bad mood doesn't mean he is giving harsher sentences
English

This got awkward FAST… ⚖️
During a remote court hearing, an IT technician tried to fix an audio issue and casually joked it was a “false alarm.” But the judge didn’t take it lightly at all—he immediately asked to speak to the technician’s supervisor.
What seemed like a small comment quickly turned into a tense moment in court.
Do you think the judge overreacted, or should professionalism be taken that seriously in a setting like this?

@friedicecream67 @ScuffedPro56009 @caroIinex @calliopilled @nocontextmemes You are the one making the unusual claim, by very definition of calling it an above average IQ. Therefore, in this case the burden of proof falls upon you to provide the positive case for this being your IQ.
English

@ScuffedPro56009 @caroIinex @calliopilled @nocontextmemes You called it a bluff, so the burden is on you to prove it’s fake. An accusation isn’t evidence.

@BuzzzStryker @NWilliams24001 @zGhostrick @Qvinhoyos @Valentinex97 @RedMedia_us Please read the opening of John. Christ is the Word made flesh, the Bible is a report on his life, not the Word itself.
English

@NWilliams24001 @zGhostrick @Qvinhoyos @Valentinex97 @RedMedia_us You're free to believe that, of course, but the Bible is the Word of God.

@moonknightsunc @WeegeeThe3rd Can someone show me? Please?

@jimmy4785791719 @Hidden1492056 @AreVeeAye @YourAnamuse @sicksadchris The Roman historian Tacitus mentioned the execution of Christ by Pilate in the Annals. It’s an accepted fact historically that there was a man called Jesus (Or Yeshua) in Judea, preaching at that time.
English

@Hidden1492056 @AreVeeAye @YourAnamuse @sicksadchris Ok ima bite... Gimme the 'scientific ' proof that Jesus is real

@VIIskies_ @FrogeLole @MsgVdoble80818 @Ghostofjradical @ToriatheistTori You used a subjective modifier “for the human body”
English

@FrogeLole @MsgVdoble80818 @Ghostofjradical @ToriatheistTori Uh, pretty much any radioactive compound. I'm talking uranium, cesium, yanno, the shit they put in nuclear reactors, not the stuff they use for radiotherapy
Very objectively bad for the human body
English

@spectrm @RealDianeYap I agree, it’s likely a waste of time to consider, but it’s disingenuous to claim that atheists can’t prove objective reality, when the fact of the matter is nobody can. That’s why we both just assume reality exists, it makes for a more productive conversation.
English

@spectrm @RealDianeYap Does the fact that it’s unsatisfying indicate anything of its validity? I honestly have no idea.
English

@spectrm @RealDianeYap That is why I assert that I can’t prove ultimate skepticism wrong. I just act like it’s false however, because - as I said - it’s unsatisfactory. It’s something of a boring point to argue about because of the sheer redundancy.
English

@spectrm @horseface25 @RealDianeYap I’m explaining why it matters from the perspective of a human, which is subjective.
English

@spectrm @horseface25 @RealDianeYap I already said I don’t believe there is any such thing as objective morality.
English

@spectrm @horseface25 @RealDianeYap I would think of the idea of a caveman hearing a bush rustling and just assuming it was a predator rather than the wind, even if it’s false. But even then, the caveman does have a desire to know why it did happen, it’s just outweighed by his self preservation instinct.
English

@spectrm @horseface25 @RealDianeYap I misspoke when I said truth, information would be more accurate, I agree that a lie is sometimes more beneficial than a truth in survival. However wanting to know why something happens is a good tool to help survive. I also don’t believe in moral objectivity.
