Previously, Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) was only payable from the fourth consecutive day of absence. Today this changes. This waiting period will be removed meaning that employees will be entitled to SSP from the first day of sickness absence.

From October 2026, UK employers will be under a strengthened legal duty to take “all reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment at work which is a higher threshold than the current requirement. This is about proactive prevention, not just reacting when issues arise.
