A self-proclaimed F1 journalist and Instagram influencer with around 4k followers named “Thandie” was removed from the 2026 British Grand Prix following an abusive incident at Silverstone. I genuinely don’t understand why the FIA keeps handing out free paddock passes to these self proclaimed influencers while real fans struggle with ticket prices rising every year. Why are people with negligible audiences and little understanding of the sport being given access that genuine fans can only dream of? F1 keeps talking about growing the sport, yet many lifelong fans can’t even afford grandstand tickets while these self-styled influencers walk into the paddock for free. Source link in comments.

An update after 24 hours of this post: This post ended up in X News, crossed half a million views, got f1twt talking and generated 1.3k posts discussing it. Most people discussed the actual topic: paddock access, accountability and whether F1 is getting value from handing out these invitations. Others decided the better response was to harass me, harass the journalist who originally covered the story, demand the post be deleted and throw around accusations of racism at anyone who disagreed with them. Apparently reporting on a public incident at a Formula 1 event is now “bullying” and “racism”. Meanwhile, the original journalist is being called a piece of sh*t and people are demanding posts be deleted for discussing a story that was already public. Here’s the uncomfortable truth: None of this happens if you don’t abuse the wife of a marshal at a Formula 1 event in the first place. I didn’t even know her name 48 hours ago. So, no, I won’t be deleting this post, so stop DMing me and commenting in her defence about how she got expertise in the sh*tting in hand and clapping twice business. I just don’t care. As everyone already knows, Lando Norris will take a grid penalty at Spa after McLaren opts to fit a fourth Power Electronics unit this weekend. The team’s plan is to run this new unit for the remainder of the season and avoid taking another penalty later in the year. Adding insult to injury, Mercedes is also introducing a new battery this weekend aimed at improving reliability. Every other Mercedes-powered car is expected to benefit from it except Norris, Since he would have a grid penalty. I figured McLaren wasn't going to have the pace for Norris to really defend his championship the way you'd want to see, but missing out on that because of a lack of reliability almost feels worse. Especially when you look at his pace when the car is actually working.
