I totally understand. Pretty much describes the differences between my two kids. The 19-year-old…up early, showered and ready to go, makes his bed to military standards, cleans like a machine—floors, baseboards, vacuums—basically white-glove top to bottom. Gym and back by 7 a.m. Germanic precision, ready to start his job. Talks to me about how many reps he did and his new personal best bench press weight. The 11-year-old…hair looks like a hyena did it, clothes left wherever! Mismatched socks, school uniform wrinkled (despite being ironed and on a hanger when he put it on), collar up on one side, Oasis shirt underneath. Order him to clean his space, come in 10 minutes later and he’s learned an entire song on his piano or guitar by ear with perfect chords and tempo. Took an empty cardboard box and is making some sort of castle complex that keeps growing through the week—nothing picked up! Barely get him to school in time despite yelling and threatening till I’m blue in the face, yet he’s managed to discuss the likelihood of aliens living in deep caverns in the earth and the fact that he no longer likes Amber. I’m like, “You have a girlfriend!” It’s basically a real balance between the two, mate! 👀🤣😱
