पंजाब शहरी निकाय चुनावों से निकली सबसे बड़ी तस्वीर यह है कि आम आदमी पार्टी 1000 सीटों के आंकड़े तक पहुंचने में असफल रही है, जबकि भाजपा कई नगर निगमों और नगर परिषदों में मेयर तथा चेयरमैन बनाने की स्थिति में पहुंच चुकी है. अगर पिछले एक दशक के स्थानीय निकाय चुनावों पर नजर डालें, तो पंजाब की राजनीति का बदलता हुआ स्वरूप साफ दिखाई देता है 2015 स्थानीय निकाय चुनाव शिरोमणि अकाली दल : 1060 भाजपा : 360 कांग्रेस : 356 अन्य : 400+ उस दौर में शिरोमणि अकाली दल-भाजपा गठबंधन बेहद मजबूत दिखाई देता था, लेकिन इसके बावजूद अगला विधानसभा चुनाव हार गया. 2021 स्थानीय निकाय चुनाव कांग्रेस : 1432 शिरोमणि अकाली दल : 284 भाजपा : 59 आम आदमी पार्टी : 69 निर्दलीय : 364 उस समय कांग्रेस का दबदबा साफ नजर आ रहा था, लेकिन वह भी अगले विधानसभा चुनाव में सत्ता से बाहर हो गई. अब 2026 के नतीजों पर नजर डालिए: (1977 में से 1941 सीटों के परिणाम घोषित) आम आदमी पार्टी : 945 कांग्रेस : 380 शिरोमणि अकाली दल : 191 भाजपा : 169 बसपा : 7 निर्दलीय : 249 पिछले 11 वर्षों में पहली बार ऐसा हुआ है कि पंजाब की सत्ताधारी पार्टी स्थानीय निकाय चुनावों में 1000 सीटों का आंकड़ा पार नहीं कर पाई. खास बात यह है कि यह स्थिति तब बनी जब चुनाव के दौरान विपक्ष ने लगातार गंभीर आरोप लगाए. विपक्षी दलों का आरोप था कि कई नामांकन तकनीकी कारणों से रद्द किए गए. 63 वार्डों में AAP उम्मीदवार निर्विरोध जीत गए क्योंकि विपक्षी उम्मीदवार नामांकन तक दाखिल नहीं कर पाए. कांग्रेस और अन्य दलों ने AAP विधायकों पर विपक्षी समर्थकों को डराने-धमकाने के आरोप भी लगाए. इसके अलावा पुलिस और प्रशासनिक मशीनरी के दुरुपयोग, बूथ कैप्चरिंग और विपक्षी उम्मीदवारों पर हमलों जैसी शिकायतें भी सामने आईं. इसके बावजूद AAP 1000 सीटों का मनोवैज्ञानिक आंकड़ा पार नहीं कर सकी. इसे भगवंत मान सरकार के खिलाफ बढ़ती जन नाराजगी और एंटी-इंकम्बेंसी के संकेत के रूप में देखा जा रहा है. कांग्रेस अब भी स्पष्ट नेतृत्व और दिशा के संकट से जूझ रही है, जबकि अकाली दल अभी तक पूरी तरह राजनीतिक पुनरुत्थान नहीं कर पाया है. इस राजनीतिक परिवर्तन के बीच भाजपा का प्रदर्शन विशेष रूप से उल्लेखनीय रहा है. 2021 में भाजपा ने अकेले चुनाव लड़ते हुए सिर्फ 59 वार्ड जीते थे. 2026 में भी बिना किसी गठबंधन के चुनाव लड़ते हुए भाजपा 169 वार्ड जीत चुकी है यानी पांच वर्षों में 110 वार्डों की बढ़ोतरी. बिना सत्ता के समर्थन और बिना किसी गठबंधन के भी भाजपा ने अपेक्षाओं से बेहतर प्रदर्शन किया है. पंजाब की राजनीति में परिवर्तन की आहट साफ सुनाई देने लगी है और भाजपा का विस्तार लगातार मजबूत होता दिखाई दे रहा है.
