@herbertong In the graph you shared, the last acceleration looks like it happened in Jan. The graph now shows that we are in a state of constant velocity in SF and near zero velocity in Austin. "Acceleration" is nowhere to be found.

@wholemars It's so easy to fox this. Just add more HD mapping that includes all the other cars on the road.

It does ok on snowy roads, but the current version is dangerous on snowy/icy highways. Even on Sloth mode, the car wanted to do 65mph on the mountain highway. 80% of the time, the it was clear enough to go that speed.... but it wouldn't slow down when it approached those 100yd patches of compacted snow and ice. Temporary posted limit was 25mph. I'd say 35 seemed more appropriate. 65 would have been disastrous. I know FSD will get there soon enough. But in the mean time, we need to be honest about its capabilities and weaknesses.

HUGE LIFE UPDATE: I’m about to go into Starbucks to order my girlfriend her favorite drink without having it written down for me. This is the first time I’ve ever attempted this. Nervous but mostly excited. Wish me luck!

@WittySailor @mdharrington111 @DirtyTesLa You are forgetting to consider the opportunity cost of the $8k (+tax). If you use that money to buy TSLA shares instead, you will probably be financially way ahead... even as the subscription price increases

I understand this. However, I’m not a lease/3 year buy new guy. I drive vehicles to the scrapyard. Typically 12+ years later. I have a story to tell here. I took my 2019 Camry to the shop for warranty repair. I received a 2022 Corolla as a loaner. That car had the same features as my 3 year older one. Features I paid extra for. And all of them were essentially software upgrades. Tesla does over the air updates overnight , and you have a “new car” in the morning. Ok, I get this model is probably unsustainable in the long run. But let the plebs subscribe, and also retain an option for purchase. I hate being locked into subscriptions. Media/movies/tv has done that to me, and I have found “alternative solutions.” If my vehicle does that, even though I love everything about an EV… I may just start using my ‘88 Supra as a daily driver again.

I agree that short term pricing will increase when unsupervised is complete. But if Robotaxi is aiming for $0.20/mile in the long run, FSD should be priced much lower than that for Tesla owners... If i assume Tesla charges owners ~$0.10/mile and people drive 10k miles/year, that works out to $83/mo.

I'll bet that FSD subscription will NOT rise in price and that if it does, it will come back down within 12 months after a price increase. Much like FSD went from $8K -> $15K and back down to $8K. In fact, I'll make an additional bet that FSD is likely to go DOWN in price. Maybe $79 or even $49 - maybe in promotional type pricing where a user locks in the price at that during a promotion.

What are your thoughts on whether Tesla will transition those who purchased FSD (supervised) over to (Unsupervised) when it becomes available? Or will they hide behind the fact that we technically purchased Supervised and would need to pay an additional subscription to get Unsupervised? @Tesla @elonmusk

@im_thatoneguy @CyberOhio The Tesla vehicle includes FSD hardware and anyone can subscribe to Supervised FSD on any HW3+ vehicle for many years now. No hardware upgrades necessary. Beyond that, all phrasing of unsupervised or "full autonomy" was under the guise of it being enabled via the FSD package.

Elon has reiterated that HW3 vehicles with FSD purchased will receive hardware upgrades if Unsupervised can not be accomplished on current hardware. Present focus remains on solving Unsupervised on AI4, and releasing a V14 “Lite” for HW3 in the interim (tentatively Q2 this year)

@SawyerMerritt While nice, this doesn't bode well for future pricing. Seems like it sets the stage for a tiered pricing structure that would charge extra for Unsupervised, even if Supervised was purchased outright.

@elonmusk Will those that already purchased FSD (supervised) always get the latest & greatest (including unsupervised)? Or will Unsupervised be a different tier that still requires a subscription? @Tesla @SawyerMerritt

@mikepat711 You've been doing it wrong this whole time. You just keep the stove on one time and the microwave on the other. Then, all you have to do is remember if you are on Stove Time or Microwave Time. So simple!

@JOBhakdi If you're confident about 100+% gain this year, a 790/800 TSLA call spread only costs $0.80 for 1/27, or $1.00 for 6/27... which is ~10x return and gives you breathing room on both price and time.

The challenge for my Pioneer Alpha Strategy right now is: I am not fully invested in $TSLA (about 90%), and I am on heavy Alpha Churn ;short weekly options, including calls), because, as I outlined, I see short term pressure on TSLA with no catalysts on the monthly horizon . At the same time, I am quite confident that the stock will be up 100%+ this year in Robotaxi and reach 6000 by 2030 on Optimus and Robotaxi. So it’s all about getting the timing right. It’s hard to time the market (but possible to some extent), it’s a bit easier to time TSLA if you put a lot of energy it.

Jason Calacanis recently got to see Optimus 3. He says: "Nobody will remember that Tesla ever made a car. They will only remember the Optimus and that he is going to make a billion of those."

@wintonARK $36k would be a heck of an uninsured risk to gamble on a non-transferable feature that could be wiped out by a single accident (even if it's the n other driver's fault). If you were literally paying a driver, that job could transfer to other vehicles and other drivers.
