I've done more research on the harm that sanctions have caused Iran than just about anyone and I believe sanctions relief would have a positive impact on Iran's political trajectory. But a "left position" on Iran should not start with any demand of the American government, and certainly not a demand for sanctions relief. To show solidarity, any such position should align with the demands of Iranian activists and organizers, who are understandably focused on their own government. Supporting Iranians means centering their agency and their priorities. This is how we avoid the sacrifices of Iranian activists getting coopted by outside forces, whether on the right or left. Bernie's position is actually pretty good in this regard.

این روزها با گروهی از کاربران شبکه‌های اجتماعی طرفیم که همزمان مخالف خامنه‌ای، رجوی، پهلوی و نتانیاهو هستند!
