Tonight, I produced my final show for @NewsNation. I’ll announce my next move in the coming days, but first, I want to express my gratitude to NewsNation and the fine journalists who I had the privilege of working alongside for a little more than two years. NewsNation gave me my dream start in television news after six years in radio. I am incredibly thankful to Adam Thomas, my former executive producer on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports,” and longtime @1010WINS morning anchor turned TV manager Lee Harris who brought me to NewsNation in January 2024. Working as an associate producer on Vargas, I learned new skills as a visual storyteller, established control room experience, and worked for one of the best researchers and journalists in @EVargasTV. Together, we covered impactful stories from Kohberger to Karen Read to Diddy, the Ukraine War, the Trump Administration’s new health policies, the first American Pope, and so much more. I was fortunate to be in the control room when NewsNation became the first network to call the 2024 election for Donald Trump. That was a groundbreaking moment for NewsNation. The last six months producing “The Hill with Blake Burman” were some of the best months of my career. I have to thank @BlakeBurman; he has made me a better writer. He saw something in my writing and challenged me every day to be better, write sharper, engage the audience, and keep our audience. We’ve recently enjoyed a surge in the ratings with an intense focus on breaking news. Telling stories is what we do. The news landscape continues to evolve and has changed dramatically in just the ten years that I’ve been out of college. We inform people who may only have time to watch a sliver of news a day in their busy lives. This is both a huge responsibility and a privilege. NewsNation is in good hands with some of the most talented journalists in the business - many of whom I now call friends. Their dogged on-the-ground reporting has put competitors on notice. It is a bittersweet day; I loved my time at NewsNation. But I am excited and eager for the new opportunity that awaits.

Howie was a big influence of mine as Mets fan from Queens who wanted to be a broadcaster. I had the honor of meeting Howie several times as a kid at Shea, and later, becoming colleagues together at WCBS. Now, I’m proud to call him a friend. Put it in the books! #LGM

In another phone call this evening, President Trump told me this about the death of Ayatollah Khamenei: "I got him before he got me. They tried twice. Well I got him first." That’s a reference to what US intelligence believes was a plot to kill Trump in 2024.

Iranian Ambassador: "My advice to the representative of the U.S. is to be polite. It would be better for yourself and the country you represent." .@USAmbUN: "I'm not going to dignify this with another response, especially as this representative sits here in this body representing a regime that has killed tens of thousands of its own people and imprisoned many more simply for wanting freedom from your tyranny." Last night before bombs fell in Iran, President Trump made an appearance at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago and danced to the song "God Bless the USA" before bidding the guests farewell. “We gotta go work. I gotta go to work!”

In two separate phone interviews just now, President Trump won’t say definitively that Iran’s Supreme Leader is dead. Telling @rachelvscott that he believes the Supreme Leader is dead.

"I don't want to say anything definitively until I see things but we believe he is.” And telling @kwelkernbc on reports of ayatollah's death: “We feel that that is a correct story.”

The US military carried out nearly 900 US strikes in the first 12 hours of this operation, US defense official tells me. The strikes came “from land, air and sea and included drones.” All the while “defending against 100s of incoming Iranian ballistic missiles.” Iran has fired about 300 missiles today. They have 2000 long range missiles and 2000 shorter range missiles. They had built back up their arsenal since last summer. In Bahrain at the 5th Fleet HQ the Iranians hit an “empty warehouse” and a Ray Dome - radar installation - the dome seen in the video from the strike. There are multiple redundancies and nothing that has happened has affected the mission, according to this official. What is the goal/end state: “Iran doesn’t have the capability to attack its neighbors: no drones, no missiles, no Navy.” The US and its partners know where Iran’s highly enriched uranium is, but it is hard to get to. Expect the operation to last “a couple of weeks.” But POTUS could decide to off ramp early if he chooses. There are still a number of air defenses left, according to US official. Will take a few days to suppress.

NEW details on US military strikes targeting Iran: The US military used some new capabilities in these strikes: for the first time they used “one way attack drones” in combat.   The US military has been focusing on “high value targets”: IRGC significant facilities and capabilities. Naval facilities, and “underground facilities” likely associated with the nuclear program.   Tomahawk missiles were used in the first volley of strikes.   “We have effectively suppressed their air defenses,” one US official told me.   This was a multi geographic command and control designed to overwhelm Iran’s defenses.   There were hundreds of targets in what is being described to me as a multi day operation. The Iranian response has been “ineffective,” according to one senior US official.
