@Dashytwo I doubt if Musk has $8 billion lying around. He would have to sell about 19 million shares of his Tesla stock to raise the cash, assuming the sale order doesn't cause the stock to crash. How many people have the $8 billion to buy it? Would the other billionaires each buy some?

@Dashytwo If everyone in the world suddenly had $1 billion. Many people would want to buy a house. The prices for housing would skyrocket as people bid mor and more to try to buy the house they want. Same would happen for other goods. Inflation would be huge.

@Cryptoboyy_Aji If married, filing jointly with a family income of $75,000, the tax drops to $2936. If both are over age 65, with the new Big Beautiful Bill $6000 deduction for each, drops the tax bill to just $256.

@Cryptoboyy_Aji Jeff Bezos' numbers are off. A single person making $75,000/year, taking the standard deduction would have an income tax of $6058 (about 8% of gross salary) about half what Bezos claimed.

Two days ago Jeff Bezos said the bottom half of Americans should pay zero federal income tax. His example: a nurse in Queens making $75K and sending $12,000 to Washington every year. “We shouldn’t be asking this nurse in Queens to send money to Washington. They should be sending her an apology.” And he’s right. The uncomfortable part is that the people who could actually make that happen have been fighting it for decades. The same system that taxed that nurse $12,000 gave billion dollar corporations a tax rate lower than hers. Bezos saying the quiet part out loud doesn’t fix anything. But it does make it a lot harder to pretend the problem doesn’t exist.

@Canadiangander @SSWorks @charise_lee No one pays minimum wage. I live in one of the lowest cost of living states & there are help wanted signs posted at fast food places offering $12/hour. There is no need for minimum wage laws. If you must, they should be at the local level. Even in the same state, it varies a lot.

Social Security Works ❌👑
Alex Lawson: We're the richest country in the history of the world. Of course we can afford healthcare for everyone. Of course we can afford a dignified retirement for everyone. The only thing standing in our way is less than 1000 billionaires who have corrupted the system

@SSWorks How have billionaires corrupted the system? George Soros got rich by messing with the British Pound. Most billionaires got there by producing goods & services that improved people's lives and provided good paying jobs. Many Microsoft and Nvidia employees became millionaires.

@Cryptoboyy_Aji Car prices skyrocketed under Biden, both new and used. But shop around and you can find better deals. I've had good luck with Mazdas. I drive a 2014 Mazda 3 that I bought new for $17,000 and have had no breakdowns or major repairs.

“just buy a used car” they said. so here’s what a used car looks like in 2026: 2015 Honda Civic — $14,000 2016 Toyota Camry — $16,000 2017 Ford F-150 — $28,000 these are used cars. with 100k+ miles. that need work. a new car in 2010 cost $28,000. the advice didn’t change. the market did. and now people are signing 7 year loans on used cars they didn’t want just to get to work. “just buy used” was solid advice. it died somewhere around 2021 and nobody updated the script.

@SenWarren You ignored the question and cut off his answer. People have been giving blood and being paid to do so for decades. This is not new and has nothing to do with Trump.

@SenSanders Elon Musk is brilliant in some areas. Economics is not one of them. A 5% wealth tax on Musk will bring in only $40.85 billion. The deficit spending is $1.66 trillion. The tax would only reduce the deficit by about 2.4%. It would not provide any money to handout to anyone.

Question for Musk: You tell us not to worry about the jobs that’ll be wiped out by AI & robotics because the government will provide everyone with “universal high income.” Really? How will that be paid for when you can’t even support a 5% tax on your $817 billion in wealth?

@Zaphoid13 @ItsLulu_7 Those are pretty good salaries. If you make that kind of money and save & invest a decent percentage, you can easily become a multimillionaire. I never came close to a salary that high & I have well over a million.

@BackshotsFGC @ItsLulu_7 Then all the low productivity jobs would disappear. When I was young, students did those low skill/pay jobs. They did not need a wage high enough to live on their own. A business has to be profitable to stay in business. Business owners sometimes get $0/hour worked.

@SamBismuth_ @ItsLulu_7 Pay level has to be low enough to allow a profit from the sale of the product or service. If you set up a lemonade stand in your front yard, you would not be able to make $15/hour. Leasing a location to get more sales/hour would cost more.

@jeremyct Minimum wage was $1.60 in 1973. 300 hours at $1.60 is only $480. FICA taxes of 5.85% were taken out, leaving about $452, nowhere close to covering college expenses. I started working & saving for college when I was 10. I also had a $200 academic scholarship my freshman year.

@RussellRussell4 @BLackgold_5 I see the sparks. It looks like the front gear finally did deploy because when it briefly touched ground the shock absorber looked to be working fine. I suspect the pilot had already decided to go around again by then.

@BLackgold_5 Front landing gear did not deploy and sparks in front landing gear motor are from locked up moter. Pilot not sure to land or not, then takes to air. Then call for emergency equipment to be on seen to put out fires if they occur. Now will land again with safety equipment in place

@NeilAlan262 @1791_mike @MatrixMysteries Did you miss the part about social security would be solvent if the politicians stop giving it away? They are lumping their disaster programs Medicaid and Medicare in with it. Those programs are higher than social security and a trillion in the hole. Seperate them out.

@RBReich My wife & I's gross income is about $75,000. Trump's first term tax cut dropped my tax bracket from 15% to 12%. My income tax bill dropped over 20%. My wife and I are over 65 so we got another big tax cut due to the BBB, about 23%. Combined, our tax bill dropped by nearly 50%.

@FurkanGozukara I hate the term, "fair share". No one ever defines it. They raise the bar any time they want more money for themselves. Give me a specific percentage of gross income that is the max anyone should be required to pay in all taxes combined, sales, excise, property, income, etc.

@1791_mike @janepublic79 @MatrixMysteries Replace Social Security with a 401K type plan where you have control over where it's invested. Include a portion requiring purchase of long term disability insurance. A big advantage is if you die young, your heirs get the money, not the government.

In 1935, when SS started, life expectancy at birth was 61.7 years. If you reached 65, you could be expected to live 13-15 more years. SS was meant as a filler for people who lived that long. Life expectancy has increased greatly since then through better food and medicine. But the age has not increased. It needs to move up.
