Part Sid & Marty Krofft Saturday morning kiddie psychedelia, part sturdy Socialist moralizing, the Märchenfilme were one of DEFA’s most popular genres from the 1950s to 1970s. We’re thrilled to collaborate again with the DEFA Film Library at the Univ. of Massachusetts Amherst on this first-ever Blu-ray release of five of their best fairy tale gems: SNOW WHITE (SCHNEEWITTCHEN) – 1961, 63 min., dir. Sad news today—Nicholas Brendon, beloved for his role as Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has passed away at 54. With his sharp humor and genuine heart, he gave fans a character who felt real—flawed, funny, and deeply human. His impact won’t be forgotten.

We gotta slow down today. I know this man had lots of struggles, but he was a fantastic Xander. I don’t care about the “modern take,” he was a favorite character. His delivery of that yellow crayon story to Willow always makes me shed a tear. Sad day.
