@BNArchive is there a problem with the website today? Searches work fine, but I get an error message whenever I click on an article.

@_Lorna_Brown @SuperLeague Great work - love this. What's the impact of a single game here on the %? For e.g. round 27 Salford played their reserves - what was there % across the first 26 rounds? Wire did similar in round 13. 3 drivers: 1) league position (e.g. Hull, Cas); 2) squad size/spend; 3) injuries

I wanted to take a look at how consistent the @SuperLeague team line ups and minutes played have been over the 2024 season. It certainly seems very varied, ranging from 73% to 83% and not by teams you'd expect. public.tableau.com/app/profile/lo…

There’s been some incoherent rambles against grading (and a few well put ones too), but this thread has just taken top spot. If any can find logic here, please share 😂

@21luckyforsome @casrugbyshirts Personally speaking, I’ve consistently said that the system rewards mediocrity in the likes of Wigan/Saints as it places no burden on them to improve further and maintain higher standards. If it did, I think you’d have a different scoring system and it would be harder to attain A

@Pleyndamour What happens to a team that keeps underperform. Lost crowds, lost sponsors, less money, less investment, etc. All will see point lost & eventually grades. And if it doesn't, then they are the type of strong club that we'd want in SL, no? Does it help RL if no Leeds & Wigan in SL?

@NeilOrmston The logic I’m after is how a club like Wigan will get penalised or drop a grade if they finish bottom 3 seasons in a row. They won’t.

@Pleyndamour You've fundamentally missed the point, which is that the theory (right or wrong) is the problem lies in the lower clubs in SL. Regardless, your whole argument is based on the assumption that the aim is to be in SL. For the top clubs, that's not the goal - it's to win the comp.

@NeilOrmston There’s no ways they have to improve as an A grade club as they are already scoring enough to remain in SL. They don’t have to grow crowds, don’t have to stand on their own feet, etc etc. The criteria doesn’t force top end clubs to keep growing

@markill But there's no incentive for Wigan to improve Mark 😂

@NeilOrmston His double down about them half arsing it & doing nothing to grow the game/attendances is even more ridiculous. What more could Wigan do? Play games in even more places to try and get media attention on Super League? Spend even more developing young talent for every team to sign?

@NeilOrmston That’s the point Neil. If they finish bottom, they haven’t met the minimum standards.

@Fatboy_Rob Could. It’s doing so much lifting in this as to make the point redundant though Rob. Honestly, I have absolutely no problem with a team finishing bottom not being relegated if they meet the required standard.

@NeilOrmston It’s a simple and correct point Neil. Wigan, Saints or Leeds could finish bottom, every year, and not get relegated. It’s wrong, Mark knows it, I know it, and you know it. Even if you won’t admit it. 😏

@Pleyndamour How? There’s lots of areas they can. The logic of why (which I guess is what you’re really after?) is obvious really: it makes them more likely to win trophies, which is the main aim of any ambitious club. You think finishing bottom 3 years is row doesn’t matter? Again, illogical

@NeilOrmston How do the top clubs improve Neil? Answers on a postcard. They can finish bottom 3 seasons in a row and it won’t make a jot of difference. Maybe you can share the logic?

@TrylineUK The NRL wouldn’t have that. They think the best two (17?) teams are in their comp, so they couldn’t market this at their event, wrong as they are.

@Fredbat @AaronBower @BrianDavies12 That was a looong time ago now, but I thought it spoke about expansion of number of teams once the first 12 got to grade A. Joking aside, I expect we'll see 8-9 grade A this time. I think we'll see a bit of movement between teams 10-14 for a few seasons yet.

Wakefield owner Matt Ellis believes victory in Saturday's Championship Grand Final will take them to Grade A under IMG's system - and insists no matter what, he feels Trinity have done enough to make the cut for Super League in 2025. loverugbyleague.com/post/wakefield…

The contradiction here with the Vaughan ruling is stark. “Incidents of this nature need to be reviewed on an individual basis and determined accordingly.” If only they'd been this pragmatic, and receptive to letters of support 12 months ago!
