@halbkass A Estonian hitchhiker stopped a car and asked the driver "are we far from Tallinn?", the driver responded - "not at all", so estonian jumped in and they drove for 3 hours. Estonian asked again if they were far from Tallinn, and the driver responded: "Oh yeah, now we are far!"

RFE/RL’s “Echo of the Caucasus” project stops operations The Russian-language project Echo of the Caucasus has ceased operations, staff said on social media, although an official announcement has yet to be issued. Launched in 2009 by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the outlet broadcast across Georgia proper and the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The project had already scaled back operations in March 2024, citing financial and operational difficulties, and ended its daily radio broadcasts while continuing online. Its website and social media accounts remain accessible but appear to have stopped updating, suggesting a full halt to activity.

@NeilPHauer I would like to add that many Abkhaz journalists have been labeled as pro-Western by Russia, making it impossible for them to leave Abkhazia. Abkhaz journalists are crucial for ending Abkhazia's isolation, but I don't recall any show of solidarity from other journalists.

@Mikiashvili_M @hykleri Georgian most definitely has a highly complicated (not to say convoluted) agreement and case-assignment system. If you're not a native speaker, you have to struggle through systems like these. Note that one tense agreement system is almost but not quite the opposite of the other.

Georgian has no gender, no stress, no diacritics, no crazy numerals like in Slavic languages, and predictable declension. I believe the verbs and the weird case usage (e.g., subjects don’t have to be nominative) make it a IV* — otherwise it’d be a IV language.
