Dear followers, I have a request for you. I'm presently back in Ukraine again, and looking to make a reporting trip out to Donbas soon. The costs of this are not low, though, and keep growing as media budgets shrink. That's why I'm asking for your help to make this trip work. /1

Armenian nationalists fight over each others' delusions lol Exhibit 1: Azerbaijan didn't exist until 1918 Exhibit 2: Azerbaijan didn't exist even in 1918 Future exhibits: Azerbaijan is an imaginary country formed in ARF's minds to overcome loneliness
Origins Discovery 🇦🇲🇦🇺🇳🇿#SanctionAzerbaijan@OriginsD

@Armenia_Better Azerbaijan didn't create a new 'country' in 1918-20, because no one recognised it, not even the Ottoman Turks! You're unwittingly aiding the enemy's false case calling it that. The first time Azerbaijan was an int recognised state was 26 December 1991 at the fall of the USSR.

@Miyhnea Seems like the coast is going much better the last six months? Attacks have totally dropped off and @GregoryPWaters and others have documented successful efforts to integrate Alawites into local security forces

The integration of the Kurdish areas really stands at great contrast to the abysmal disaster in Suweyda and the uncertainty on the coast. Each is unique sure but stands as testament that where there is will and imagination there is a path to decency

@vartan84 They don't even seem to be campaigning. Three months until the vote and haven't seen a single ad or billboard for them (unlike some other opposition parties).

New poll by IRI contains a grim forecast for the Armenia Alliance (Kocharyan and ARF-Dashnaktsutyn)- 3% would vote for them (with a big 40% who are undecided or refused to answer). Even if they double that in the election, they'd still miss the 7% threshold to enter parliament.

We've also been talking to Russia since the war started. It goes like this: "Mr Putin please stop the war, what are your conditions" "Complete capitulation and dissolution of Ukraine, just like on day 1" Ukraine: "No" Very productive exercise!

30,000 ill-trained, middle-aged Russian soldiers are lying face down in the mud every month to gain two new treelines and apparently that means the Kremlin is on the brink of total victory

There is a reason for Nakhchivan being under-researched despite all its strategic importance.
Dünya Başol@dunya_basol

Nakhchivan has always been under-researched despite all its strategic importance. From the mid-1990s until 2010–15, every inch of Nakhchivan was infiltrated by Iranian intelligence networks. Even hotel receptionists would frequently send copies of foreign guests' passports to Iranian handlers, and although the external security of Nakhchivan was guaranteed by Turkey, keeping Armenia away from the enclave, the inside was riddled with an extensive Iranian network. This only changed in the early 2010s when Turkey began engaging in far more active policies in the area and Nakhchivan was pulled out of neglect. After the collapse of the Axis of Resistance, I assumed that Iran would start re-establishing its networks first through Nakhchivan, given its geographical position, while seeking a foothold in the South Caucasus to fill the vacuum left by Russia's withdrawal, likely in direct competition with Turkey. This was another reason why Iran was furious about the Zangezur/Trump corridor. In light of all this, attacking Nakhchivan would be nothing short of suicide for Iran in the region, dealing a catastrophic blow to its image and guaranteeing its inability to return to Nakhchivan for decades to come even if the war stops tonight. "We only attack U.S and infidels bases" is not a valid argument anymore for Iran.

In general, what is wrong with the Irish people specifically? I’ve seen so many of them tell me that I should just put up with my own government persecuting me for my work, because it’s “anti-imperialist” and I’m some kind of “Zionist NATO shill.” But apparently it’s not just about Russia (I’m Russian, and I oppose my country’s invasion of Ukraine) since it’s most of the time it’s Irish online activists telling actual people from Syria, Iran etc to just shut up and suffer the persecution from their own governments because America bad or something. What is so spectacularly wrong with the Irish that made them like this? It’s clearly not their own nation’s history of persecution, since they haven’t leaned any lessons from it.

The first instance of the Iran war directly impacting the Caucasus. Azerbaijan is a close ally of Israel, but also of Turkey - which Iran (barring one possibly errant missile yesterday) has so far avoided antagonizing.
