@AutarkistThe @EWess92 You are either ignorant or dishonest. Actually, you’re both. The Court’s holding provides relief to Cuban exiles and their descendants here whose property was confiscated by a communist regime.

@ThatJayWarren @jaycaspiankang Lol, arguing that LeBron didn't cook in Game 6 of the 2013 Finals and that the Heat were never underdogs is disingenuous. Sorry if you don't like the facts. Your original point was either dishonest or an inaccurate framing, whichever you prefer.

@NeilfromDade @jaycaspiankang Cool, glad you agree with my original point. Technically you are correct, but calling a +105 underdog is pretty disingenuous. +150 sure, but not really. -240 though?

@ThatJayWarren @jaycaspiankang There’s nothing “convenient” about answering whether the Lebron Heat teams were underdogs in the Finals. The facts confirm that. Like your “revisionist history” point, it's okay to be incorrect after you're properly informed.

@NeilfromDade @jaycaspiankang Convenient how you worded that. Heat were -240 vs Dirk and -240 in 2013 vs SAS. “Uphill battle” vs OKC in 2012 +150 and +105 in 2014. Not exactly an underdog story.

@OrinKerr Term limits are dumb. This debate wouldn't be a thing if we had a legislative branch.

Re the NYT essay below on 18-year terms for Supreme Court Justices, I have two thoughts. First, the "Framers couldn't have foreseen this" gets the point wrong. I don't think we have reason to believe the Framers couldn't have foreseen a Justice staying on the court for many decades. As far as I can tell, no one flipped out when Chief Justice Marshall was on the Court for over 34 years, from 1801 to 1835. What the Founders couldn't have foreseen is that the Court would be as powerful as it has become in the modern era. That's the problem, I think. More broadly, I'm a huge fan of 18-year terms for Justices, but just telling the NYT audience that it could be done by regular legislation is a disservice to readers. I know some people have made the argument that such reforms wouldn't require a constitutional amendment, but the argument is not a good one. As I see it, it's the kind of argument you make when you're deeply committed to an outcome and will take anything that sounds plausible. I get that this describes a non-zero number of influential people, but that doesn't improve it as an argument. Anyway, I realize this puts us in a cruddy position. Our Republic would be much healthier with 18 year terms for Justices, and yet we can't get there without a constitutional amendment that is, as a practical matter, out of reach. But I think that's where we are. nytimes.com/2026/05/19/opi…

They said the Heatles were the end of the league. Then the Warriors. Last week it was the Thunder. Now it’s the Spurs. Something always happens. I just hope it’s crazy instead of sad.

@ThatJayWarren @jaycaspiankang In essence, you did. And, funny enough, thr history says yes: The Heat were underdogs against OKC, favorites in 2013, and dogs in 2014. As for 2011, the Mavs pulled off the most impressive title runs of the last 25 years, and that's really the only worthy dig against Bron/legacy.

@ThatJayWarren @jaycaspiankang If you're going to call something “revisionist history,” you ought to get it right. Thinking KD joining a 73-9 team is the same thing as Lebron going to Miami is very easy to take seriously, I'm sure.

@NeilfromDade @jaycaspiankang Thank you for correcting that. 1-3. Hard for me to take the KD point seriously though when LBJ went to Miami. And I do love LeBron. But let’s not act like Ray Allen and Kyrie over Steph in game 7 aren’t top 10 legacy plays in LeBron’s career. #NeverForget

@ThatJayWarren @jaycaspiankang Game-tying shot* in a game that had no business being as close as it was. He would’ve fallen to 1-3, not 1-4. The legacy stuff is so tiresome. Bron’s legacy would also be very different if Durant didn't break 3 years of the NBA, i.e., he is probably not 4-6.

@NeilfromDade @jaycaspiankang Correct. My point is that LeBron missed the game winning shot and was saved by Ray. He was 1-3 in the finals and would’ve been 1-4 if Ray Allen didn’t hit one of the greatest shots ever. His legacy would be looked at differently if that didn’t happen.

In Batman Begins, Nolan tries about as hard as you possibly can to create a realistic account of how a guy could become Batman and it’s sort of ridiculous. Part of the genius of The Dark Knight is that he explicitly disavows doing this for the Joker.

@jaycaspiankang Turning into God is revisionist history. He missed the season saving shot. Pop took Timmy out of the game, and Ray Allen carried a sizable chunk of LeBron’s legacy. Cavs Warriors game 7 is #1 with everything considered
