@GarageGuyChase @Dman5413 I have a counterpoint. That redesign Mustang everybody thought was basically cheating has turned out to be total dog shit.

Chevrolet’s about to do something Ford and Toyota simply can’t. With the Camaro gone, Chevy isn’t handcuffed to a production car anymore which means the 2026 Cup body can be built purely for performance. Ford has to stick to the Mustang. Toyota has to stick to the Camry. Both are limited by consumer design cues. Chevrolet’s walking into 2026 with a clean sheet of paper and the freedom to sculpt whatever shape the NASCAR rulebook will allow, which means optimized airflow, reduced drag, and better balance through traffic. They’ve already passed NASCAR’s wind-tunnel approval process, but haven’t revealed what production model (if any) this body’s tied to. This is a rare moment where one manufacturer can build something truly race first. If Chevy nails it, the Bowtie might just reset the Cup Series and could flip the script entirely with a consumer car born from NASCAR, not the other way around.

There’s part of me that feels like Rick Hendrick, with his power and influence with Chevrolet, and with a boatload of cash and the mighty stroke of the pen, could end up purchasing Connor Zilisch’s services from Trackhouse. Can you imagine how huge that news would be? Zilisch to the 48, Bowman to the 99?

Trackhouse has announced it has signed Shane van Gisbergen to a multiyear contract extension. And for those wondering, while not announced yet, still expect Connor Zilisch move to Cup for 2026 to replace Daniel Suarez.

NASCAR confirmed that full-time Cup drivers will be allowed to do the Xfinity race at Mexico City in 2025 (a couple of years ago at Chicago, NASCAR didn't let Cup drivers do the Xfinity race).

Joey Logano said what he did on pit road was wrong, but he also said he had control of his car the entire time and would have never run anyone over. He said he was being directed to the inside line to go toward Turn 1 end (where media bullpen is) and there was no path for him to get there. Adds he actually held himself back pretty well considering "It's comparable to somebody breaking into your house and taking all your stuff, and a minute and a half later, you see them all celebrating with your stuff in your front yard. What would you do?"

There is no traditional TV coverage of Cup practice and qualifying today. It is a stream today on the NBC Sports App (and can typically do it through the NBC Sports website as well).
