My dad found Homayoun Ershadi at a red light in Tehran, tapped on his window, and somehow that became one of the great performances in cinema.
I never thought anyone could own that role the way he did. Then I saw Wagner in The Secret Agent, and I thought he could be a perfect Mr. Badii for Lisandro’s remake of the film. He had the same eyes, and same stillness. Doing nothing is the hardest thing to ask of an actor. Wagner saying yes made me more confident about this project. He gets it. That’s all I can say right now.

More than a thousand executives and creators in the entertainment industry signed the letter published in response to campaigns calling for Israel to be excluded from the competition. Helen Mirren, Boy George, Amy Schumer, Mila Kunis, Mayim Bialik and Noa Kirel are among the signatories: "A singing competition is meant to unite people from different backgrounds. We are appalled by the calls to boycott Israel simply because it responded to the horrific massacre of Jews since the Holocaust."
