Very positive meeting with Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin today. Important discussions ahead of Ireland's EU Presidency, including on European competitiveness, security, values and the next EU budget. 🇮🇪🇩🇪 📸: Bundesregierung/Jesco Denzel

@thejournal_ie Sweden is destroyed Gibbons. They pay thousands of criminal migrants to leave and they come to Ireland. A third of carbon taxes go directly to social welfare. This doesn't help climate, perversely it funds more uncontrolled immigration and more fossil fuels you woke dummy 🙄

@irishexaminer There is no accountability in Ireland anymore. Say what you like about Haughey, Reynolds & Ahern but they sacked plenty of people and went when they should have. Since Varadkar, Martin, Ryan, O'Gorman, Harris & McEntee took power, it's quite acceptable to be corrupt and useless

If you read this garbage you will never get the ten minutes of your life back. Carbon tax or taxing people because you tell them it will change the climate is the biggest lie believed by a small percentage of people.

This fawning, badly written gloating piece of EU fanporn from Walsh was obviously written before Magyar exposed who he really was. If she or The Journal had an ounce of credibility, they would rewrite it to reflect what the EU now knows about him. Magyar jumped ship in 2024, played the dissident, eagerly accepted funds from the eurocrats who despise Orbán and positioned himself as the great hope for "change". The EU Left who Walsh is cheerleading for, fell into a well planned and executed trap. The moment he got into power he declared that the Hungarian border wasn't strong enough and he prioritised the rights of ethnic Hungarians. He rejected most of Von Der Leyen demands and has adhered to the same sovereignist line that is verboten in the EU. The change so celebrated by Walsh is exactly the same Orbán with a different name and a younger face. Orbán is still the major power in Hungarian Politics and his protege Magyar is following his Nationalist line. Walsh should've spent her time reading Hungarian political commentary instead of wasting her time writing a piece of irrelevant nonsense celebrating something she hasn't won!

The protests in Ireland are not about just fuel! They are about the distance between Ireland on this graph and every other modern and developed economy. Ireland is second wealthiest but gets waaaaay less than any other country for that wealth. By a golden mile. That visual gap in this graph? That’s what people are protesting. It’s a lack of infrastructure and the everyday enshittification of services, the economy, and the additional difficulty of trying to live, relative to peers in any other country. It also highlights why people don’t get uniformly listened to! - because there is no government architecture to engage meaningfully across this huge gap. That gap is a three hour drive to work in traffic, a 14 month wait for an MRI, buses that don’t arrive, trains that don’t exist, schools that have no places for your kids, houses that are unaffordable, pubs that close before midnight, €12 sandwiches, expensive fuel. People feel this gap, even if they can’t explain it precisely. And that builds into resentment, and ultimately protest. Fuel just happened to be the next thing that could be pointed to, today.

@DavidJHarrisJr Daniel Radcliffe is surrounded by wackadoos 24/7 who believe the most outrageous nonsense. He seems otherwise to be an affable fellow. The studio system gives child actors the barest minimum of education so it’s barely his fault he’s gullible. It’s a shame but not surprising 🙄

@declanganley @MHealyRae I usually don't disagree with you so strongly Declan however Healy Rae has made millions from accomodating fake refugees. Hely Rae has no halo, he's no patriot. Have you forgotten his involvement with the DO'B scam that was Irish Water too?

Full marks to @MHealyRae Michael Healy-Rae. I have always liked him, always found him to be a decent and honourable man in any encounters with me and I have always believed that he is a real patriot at heart. Today he has proven it. Thank you Deputy, I salute you, I salute your political courage.
