See You Again, Not Goodbye Asuka & Kairi

Asuka announced on YouTube that she’s not retiring and is still with WWE—her hiatus is just for personal reasons. She even teased that she might suddenly pop up on TV or at an event when no one expects it.

Thinking back on Asuka & Kairi, I just remembered a funny story. Three years ago, when I first talked to Asuka, she knew immediately that I wasn't Japanese. I initially thought it was because my Japanese was awkward, but it turned out she just noticed I had been tweeting in multiple languages. On the other hand, I realized that even after knowing Kairi for about a year, she had still assumed I was Japanese. I couldn't stop laughing. Regardless of wins, losses, or storylines, I was just happy to be able to see Asuka & Kairi every week. Their chemistry was so fun and adorable. I’m trying to keep myself together, but I can’t help feeling depressed knowing that I won’t be able to see this chemistry anymore.😢

Asuka's final words to IYO were '行ってきます,' which translates to "I'm going now, but I'll be back." With those words, she hinted at an eventual return as she left the building.
