Thoughts on the editing W or L??
Here's the exact B-roll list I give my clients:
1.Working on laptop
2.Coming into office
3.Drinking coffee
4.Sitting down
5.Talking with a friend
6.pointing at monitor
7.Yelling on the phone
8.Standing up
9.Entering the car
10.Leaving the office
any small daily action that fits their story
As a short film editor, one list changed my entire workflow.
Most clients don't know what footage actually helps tell their story — so before every shoot, I hand them a B-roll checklist.
Why it matters:
🎬 Gives me footage to cut AWAY to — hides jump cuts, controls pace
🎬 Shows instead of tells — less need for narration
🎬 Fills silence with visual storytelling instead of dead air
🎬 Turns a flat interview into a scene with life in it
If you're a client: film this stuff. Your editor will thank you.
If you're an editor: steal this list and send it before the next shoot. Check down 👇👇 for some list of broll you can ask from your clients 👇
