Throwback to when Jesse Jackson showed up in committee while I was trying to pass my literacy reform bills. Rest in peace Reverend.

Ground is officially broken on the Hyundai Training Center in Donaldsonville. With @Hyundai’s new steel plant, they were in search of a workforce ready to compete on the global stage. This training center will build careers that support real wages through real paychecks. And thanks to River Parishes Community College, those jobs will go to Louisiana students who train right here in Ascension Parish. It’s another great day in Louisiana!

@GrangerForLa Amendment 4 stops people from losing their whole house for not paying a $100 property tax bill. Our current property tax sale system is broken at best and unconstitutional at worst.

Our Louisiana Forward plan will not only make Louisiana more competitive, but it will put more money in everyone’s pocket AND give our teachers a pay raise. forbes.com/sites/patrickg…

@DavidMTatman I would just point out that education, infrastructure, and public safety are all funded by taxes. I don't think education will improve if we have to cut teacher pay because of bad tax policy. Tax reform won't fix every problem, but it is foundational to many of them.

@NelsonforLA I admire he effort and appreciate the time you have put in. I personally think issues like auto insurance rates, a poor education system, inadequate infrastructure and crime are a higher priority based on my experience in economic development. 🤷🏼‍♂️✌️

“Tax reform is complicated and difficult. I applaud this body and the administration’s efforts to provide meaningful relief to Louisiana taxpayers that could also help recruit and retain individuals and businesses.”

Manish Bhatt, Senior Policy Analyst at the Tax Foundation, testified before the Louisiana House Ways and Means Subcommittee that the state's tax code is inefficient and uncompetitive, putting Louisiana at a disadvantage. Read the testimony here:hubs.ly/Q02SxKj80

Today, CNBC ranked Louisiana 47th in the country for business. This is unacceptable and NOW is the time for change! In order to bring Louisiana from the bottom to the top, we must simplify and refresh our tax structure. Today, Secretary @larevenue @NelsonforLA laid out a great plan to reform our tax code and open Louisiana up for more jobs and opportunity. I appreciate his work. We need a more prosperous Louisiana for all people.
