@JimConcrete_ @LionelThrilling Right. And using cheap political slogans is equally as immature as to what popular internet speak was during the 2010s.
Current internet speak still has its pitfalls. But to comparing it as identical to what came before is. Reductive
Apples to oranges i guess

@NeneyesJ @LionelThrilling Imposing cheap political slogans, which are trite and reductive, onto everything is only entertaining to a person who has lost the ability to think with any depth or breadth. It is a sign of deep immaturity and ideological possession.

Would it make sense if I said that talking like this is the “heckin chonker” of the mid 2020s

Honestly, if you read the Upanishads - which Lynch and Frost were 100% aware of - the structure and philosophy of this series makes sense. The line “We are like the dreamer who dreams and then lives in the dream” is a line literally taken directly from the Upanishads.

It didn't; in fact, Church hierarchy quickly adapted to help legitimize the regime for 70 years, and most catholics kept perpetuating the PRI in power. You guys really know NOTHING about the mexican revolution.

Beau is Afraid is actually his “best” in terms of artistry. Hereditary is excellent but it’s almost an exercise in style. Midsommar is…fine. But Beau is Afraid is an artist making the leap from “proof of concept” to full embracing his craft. Eddington is also a huge level up from the first two films.
It’s fine if people prefer Hereditary/Midsommar. Aster is a compelling filmmaker. But Beau and Eddington embrace being visual literature moreso than just smartly made films by someone who wants to make visual literature.
